So, I'll admit that I tend to go 'Lalalalala' and stick my fingers in my ears when it comes to British politics. It's all just too depressing and dull. American politics on the other hand - well, it's The West Wing for reals... Except crazier. In case some of you haven't been following, across the pond they [the conservatives] like to teabag their opponents(!). This video explains:

Personally I'm on Robin Hood's side.

I'm also pretty fond of this , as well as dear old Robin.

Hahahaha! "Going nuts" may be the best thing I've heard from a newscaster in a long time.

XD XD XD

That man is now my hero for being able to keep a straight face through all of that.

I, er, don't think that means what they think it means.

Also, there's nothing like a "populist movement" started by the very wealthy, eh? *cough*

NOTHING brings out the weird like 4/15.

American Politics are the funniest thing ever.

I give up. White flag time. Between the Rachel Maddow clip that enigmatic posted and this one I've been curled up laughing hysterically for so long I've got stomach cramps.

I like the idea of 'Astro-turf' in this context.

Course, teabagging on astroturf could, under some circumstances, give you nasty carpet burns on your knees....

I'm at my parent's place right now and they watch a lot of news. Every time I hear 'teabagging,' I can't help but laugh. How clueless are all the right-wing people to pick *that* name for their protest. The only problem was trying to explain what teabagging to my mom without actually saying anything that I don't ever want to say to my mom.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2009-04-15 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god. If this goes on, it might just blow up in their faces.

[identity profile] thatotherperv.livejournal.com 2009-04-15 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAHAHAHAHAHA. ok, I'm reposting this in my journal, I hope you don't mind. it's just. oh god.

the right wing is SO FULL OF FAIL ever since they lost. it gives my heart great joy.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2009-04-15 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, come on. Whether you agree with them or not, you've got to admire their balls.

Well, it sure tells you a lot about who they are -- not that we didn't already know they were dense.

In addition:

1) Who drinks tea here?
2) Have they checked the cost of the stuff? Why don't they dump corn syrup? Now there's something Americans consume a lot of, because it's cheap.

I also have to wonder if Brits were equally amused during round 1 of this protest. ;>

Lots of ums, errs, the word sex, a note that it's really dirty, and that if she really wants to know, she should look it up on the internet. Basically she still has no idea what it means. *g* I can't say those words to my mother!

[identity profile] shipperx.livejournal.com 2009-04-15 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You would think they'd occasional check out current slang is before deciding what to name a Fox News Sponsored Propoganda Event protest after a sex act.

Bwha!

Look for the Sex and the City clip and let YouTube and Samantha explain.

I just watched that clip this morning, and that newscaster is made of win for keeping a straight face. That last line! *sporfles*

Oh, the poor GOP. They haven't figured out how to actually protest something worth protesting yet.

[identity profile] zanthinegirl.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear God.

I have to go to a family wedding this weekend in Portland. One of my cousin's husband is a retired GOP congressman (though I hear he's thinking of running for the senate; he's bored just being a regular human), and another cousin is married to GOP political strategist; it's bound to be topic of conversation.

::sigh::

Gonna be a loooog weekend!

[identity profile] zanthinegirl.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I heard about that-- it was on the radio when I got up. :(
