Eleven-y thoughts.
Look! I has a new icon. :) From here - there are 5 more, and they are all great! (The emohair is growing on me, maybe because it is so funny.) As for fandom's reaction, then this totally cracked me up: Meta reaction to casting spoiler by
rude_not_ginger.
Mostly, what I keep coming back to is that they were looking for someone in the 30-40 range, but Matt Smith impressed them so much that they cast him anyway, despite his age. Or, as Darcy put it, it is reassuring that they went with ability over commerce. Also, there is the fact that this is Moffat's Doctor (albeit seen through River's eyes):
Now my Doctor... I've seen whole armies turn and run away. And he'd just swagger off back to his TARDIS and open the doors with a snap of his fingers. The Doctor... in the TARDIS... next stop: everywhere.
And if that's what Matt Smith can bring... we'll I'm looking forward to it. (Even though losing Ten is KILLING me.)
[Spoilers for The Next Doctor] Oh - by the way I presume that Ten gets killed by the cybermen in Jackson Lake's basement? (better than tripping over a brick, certainly) And then regenerates and tiptoes out the back door or something? That would make sense.[/end spoilers] ETA: Just forget it. I think my metabrain has died.
Finally (must be brief, have a poorly husband), as you probably know
buffyversetop5 is open again, and filled with good things. So I shall rec two Whoniverse fics here:
Faces and Names by
beer_good_foamy, a DW/Hitchhikers crossover that is quite simply brilliant!
I Were The Heavens by
sam_storyteller - a wonderful take on Jack's backstory.

I still say he looks like he belongs in Twighlight, but I'm willing to give him a chance.
And it could be a future-er doctor than 10 or 11 in jackson's basement. Or who met River. I'm just sayin' It could still be Dylan Moran

I *adore* the jazzhands one... and the emohair...

Nah. He's not sparkly enough. *g*

*ponders* Jackson says that Ten was there, but given the state of his memory... I just think it'd be a neat way to play on the Timey-wimey thing. Guess we'll have to wait for next Christmas to find out.

True. Shall we start a petition? Dylan Moran for Twelve? (Just saw Run Fatboy Run last night, and am wallowing in Moran-y love.) As for the River quote, then it was really more for the sake of getting a feel for how Moffat sees the character.
