Politics, mostly.
First of all, thank you to everyone for the lovely birthday greetings (if I missed anyone then I'm terribly sorry!) - esp to
curiouswombat for the e-card. :)
Birthday has continued to spread its brilliance - I am now (thanks to a gift-card and two copies of the same book) the owner of S1 of Torchwood (£23 at WHSmith's!). And sure S1 is depressing and not terribly good, but... it's MINE! (Btw was no one in the mood for TW crack? Not that you have to be, or anything, and it IS an incredibly silly fic, but usually people like crack...)

ANYWAY, onto (US) politics, and some links:
Obama's grandfather. Seriously, check out the likeness!
st_salieri brought laughter to me with How Would Buffy Vote?
TIME has a fascinating article about Obama and when he met General David Petraeus. (Obama had a choice at that moment. He could thank Petraeus for the briefing and promise to take his views "under advisement." Or he could tell Petraeus what he really thought, a potentially contentious course of action — especially with a general not used to being confronted. Obama chose to speak his mind.)
LOLnews. Because politics need macros!
Understanding Real America in Wasilla. (The Daily Show. Need I say more?)
Finally one of THE best things I've seen - The Vet Who Did Not Vet:

(My brain is swiss cheese - Did I already wish you happy birthday? If not, then belated birthday wishes!)

Yes I have! :)
My brain is swiss cheese - Did I already wish you happy birthday?
And I can't remember either, but if you have then thank you again. *hugs*

It's the total blankness after the "How [does being Mayor of Wasilla prepare you for being VP]?" that gets me. (I've just finished the community organising part of Obama's book, and now there is a job that puts you into contact with real issues and problems!)
Did you see the interview with author Eugene Jarecki?
I don't think so - I'm forever behind...

only 8 more days until the election.
i can't wait for this to be over because the McCain tv ads drive me nuts and i'm getting a case of election fatigue.

My pleasure - and I *had* to share!
i'm getting a case of election fatigue.
Thankfully I have no ads to contend with, but I'm still all worn out and nail-bitey.
