Spike gets his own story in 'Spike: After the Fall'! *somersaults*

To quote Mr Lynch himself:

I cannot express how great this is coming out. Didn't want to dilute ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL or the previous Urru/Lynch SPIKE tales with lousy spin-off, so we didn't announce this until we saw whether or not it would work.

It worked. It works soooo well.

It is good all my squeeing is virtual, because otherwise my voice would be suffering... (incidentally, this made me realise something: s8 has never made me squee. It has made me laugh my head off on occasion, but never squee. I think I just pinpointed why it fails [for me].)

This is like the best of both worlds - because I was always ambiguous about a Spike movie. This will give Spike his own platform, and yet not be on-screen which would make it too close to canon for comfort. :)

I have squeed several times during After the Fall. I even squeed during the Faith storyline.

Of course, I consider the comics canon so that might be the difference. I'm also a *lot* more accepting of the comics format in general since I've been a comic book reader since I was 5 (which was almost 36 years ago) and I've always been a lot more accepting of the story directions Joss choses to take.

That's why I was able to go from a Bangel to a Spuffy when Joss headed in that direction.

Heck. I've even found the current Buffy ship to be funny, exactly as intended, even though I went into it with a hairy eyeball.

So yeah. I'm squeeing now (as much as anyone witha daughter with strep throat can squee) because Spike is by far my favorite character even though I simply adore them all (well at least all of the television show characters. Spider is leaving me cold and Satsu won't break my heart if she gets hurt.).

Anyway, what I originally wanted to say before I started to ramble is thanks for the news! Squee!

I think I've found a word for when you consider something to be good news, but not so good that it makes you squee. You know, the "Really? Huh. I guess that'll be pretty cool" reaction. Halfway between a squee and a shrug.

I think I am going to have to have to go with beer_good_foamy's squg response, since I am happy for the Spike fans, and I will enjoy reading the comic, but I worry about what this means for my boy. I have really enjoyed Lynch's Angel and I want to see more of him, not sit and languish in a long arsed cliff-hanger while others get to play. Yes, I'm selfish that way. Sorry.

Luckily I will have a DC-verse crisis and Serenity comics hitting right around that time to distract me.
