Rome lay stretched out below, modern brick and ancient marble. He breathed deeply, stepped forward--

"Hey!"

Shocked surprise. "Buffy? What are you doing here?"

"Really not liking it. Heights: hate them. But I need to know what you think you're doing."

"It doesn't concern you."

"Like hell. Standing on top of a tall building, all billowy coat and brooding? Been there, seen someone else do that. Frequently. Either you've got a superiority complex, or you're suicidal. Which?"

The Immortal smiled bitterly. "I can't be suicidal. Watch."

And as Buffy screamed in horror he stepped off the edge of the roof…

Well, Mr Billowy Coat King of Pain (the original version) is theoretically immortal too, but he could still be dusted: he's not invulnerable.

(I gather I characterised Jack believably, then? I was going for first-season-of-Torchwood JH, but I've not seen any of the Whoverse shows nearly as often as I have Buffy. I gather he's not quite so bitter on Doctor Who as he was there...)

Yes, he worked very well. When he comes back on DW in S3 he manages to work through a lot of his issues, and gets a lot of his questions answered. All of which means that S2 Jack ought to be a lot happier! :)
