Highlights of Elisi’s Christmas

Notes: We celebrate Christmas Eve here, just the five of us, following my Danish traditions (which include opening the presents). Christmas morning the children have their stockings and the after Mass we go round to Darcy’s parents and have a proper English Christmas, with even more presents and lots of family. *g*

Christmas Eve Highlights:

Getting the soundtrack for Series 3 of Doctor Who. This is even better and more gorgeous than I thought. Murray Gold (the composer) is my new idol.

Darcy and I getting each other ‘Hot Fuzz’. Soulmates, see?

Darcy getting me ‘Angel’ Top Trumps, even though he thinks the whole fangirly thing is beyond silly.

Wacthing The Cherub opening her presents (nothing beats a 2 y.o. for excitement!).

And then two outstanding fannish moments at the dinner table:

Little Miss M squeeing [literally!] over her Doctor Who Encyclopedia.

Impish Girl playing with her Master figure (it comes with a teeny, tiny little laser screwdriver!). She also got a set of a little cat with kittens. She held the Master so he was talking to the cat:

Impish Girl (speaking for The Master): “I love you! But now I’m going to eliminate you! ::bzzzzz::”

I *adore* my children! (A little later The Master was marrying the cat. Later again he and The Doctor were dancing... )

Christmas Day Highlights:

My family summed up in presents:

Little Miss M got an electronics set from her grandparents. She disappeared for most of the day, only re-appearing now and again to show us another thing she’d built. Oh and she did take a few breaks to play Doctor Who Top Trumps (present from us!).

Impish Girl got in-line roller blades from her uncle and auntie. They barely left her feet for the next few hours as she attempted to steer back and forth through the house.

Darcy and I both got books:

Darcy got ‘Can Movies Be A Moral Compass?’ (he wants to make films - film films like The Truman Show or ‘Wings of Desire’ that explore what it means to be human etc.)

I got ‘Slayer. A totally awesome collection of Buffy trivia’. *g*

Finally of course there was the Doctor Who Christmas Special, which had *that* moment. If you’ve seen it, I’m sure you know which one I mean. I realise that I’ve been waiting 3 years for that moment. *does much squeeing*

There was lots more great presents, and also much lovely food, lovely Christmas services in the church (being Catholic is great!) and a most wonderful time with the family. But those moments don’t translate so well into words. All I’ll say is that I am impossibly grateful for my family, because they are all wonderful and the most brilliant people to spend time with.

And that is all! Must run!

ETA: What with barely being around, and not contributing much, I thought I'd mention that I *did* post Doctor Who Christmas fic the other day! :)

That sounds like you had a great time. I'm glad, you had such a nice Christmas!

And you just reminded me not to download the Christmas special, because that would be illegal and it's perfectly ok to wait forever and three days, until I can buy somewhere around here. (warms up DVD-Player)

I hope you had a lovely Christmas too!
Thank you! It was super nice and I had a lot of fun with boyfriend and my family, especially my little nephew.

And I see you enjoyed VoTD very much! *g* (What was Christmas like before Doctor Who specials? I don't think I can remember...)

Loved it, it was actually the first one, that I really saw on Christmas. I only found out about my Who love last year (when I got my flat rate internet). Austria is great place for snow and skiing, for good television, not so much...

Sometimes happiness is good beyond description. Glad you had those moments!

I'm glad you had such a lovely holiday! How fun that your kids are getting into Doctor Who. That's so cute.

Thank you so much for the x-mas card! It was a lovely treat to find in the mailbox.

*hugs*
