It actually started out as a comment to your post, but then I realised that I might just as well post it properly. And you *must* watch AtS - when trying to work out what I like about the two shows, and why, I realised that I am more interested in Angel's friends than Buffy's. This is partly because they're all grow-up right from the start, and partly just personal preference. And Wesley's journey rival's Spike's in epic-ness!

Oh - you have sparked my interest about Wesley ... having seen him on Buffy ... and have seen the last ever episode of Angel (as I persuaded one of my brothers to record it as I wanted to know waht happened to Spike) So I do know that he was completely different. I do adore Spike - but especially it is his journey ... Starting to save the pennies now!

Yes! *does the happy dance* Wesley becomes one of the most complex, intricate and deeply layered characters *ever* - and, just like with Spike, you can actually see it in his very early episodes on BtVS (if you know what to look for!). He's up there with Spike, Angel and Buffy when it comes to journeys.

I watched it from the get-go (I came to BtVS in mid season 3) and I nearly stopped watching when I heard they were replacing my beloved Doyle with Wesley. By the end of the season I'd fallen in love with Wes, and I'm always surprised how much more I appreciate him in season 3 of BtVS now that I "know" him. After Spike I do think his has the most interesting journey in the 'verse!

I will do it. I had actually watched a few Angel before i met BTVS ... and just couldn't "get" it. I literally fell in love with Spike when I saw 1/2 an episode at a friends ... So I will watch - as I will admit both of you comments and my thoughts on Wes in that final episode have made me think ... and of course, I get to see more of Spike that way!!!

Well the first season is a mite wobbly, I have to admit - they were trying to work out what to do with the show, and a lot of the time it didn't work very well. But towards the end it suddenly took off, and then didn't stop for the next 4 years. *g* (OK, so there are some pretty awful eps in there too, but overall 'tis brilliant!)

And my Angel-love is tied with my Spike-love I think. Mmmm, Angel...

Oh - another thing, re. the whole 'who's Buffy fighting in issue 11?' Just re-read the blurb that came with the alternative cover, and it's apparently a *new* Big Bad... I quote:

An ill-prepared Buffy comes face to face with the new Big Bad in the form of an old-fashioned death match in this standalone issue titled A Beautiful Sunset.

So no ninja-robots, I'm afraid. *sigh*

Either that, or it simply means that their role as big bad is new, and that they are new to Buffy (having been a mere MOTW on Angel before.) Hell, there's even precedent on that exact phrase in the "Villains" script (how sad am I for knowing this?) which states:

With that - Willow waves a hand toward Warren's corpse, WHICH DISAPPEARS. Then she VANISHES IN A HELLISH SWIRL OF LIGHT AND ENERGY.

We are left with Buffy and the others - who stare ahead blankly at the place where Willow vanished. Aghast.

There's a new big bad in town.

And I distinctly remember Willow being around before that. ;-)

Well done to Little Miss M. I do know what an honour it is as my niece S was Mary too. Unfortunately she had a stomach bug on the day but soldiered on like a little trouper and managed not to actually throw up on stage. I hope Little Miss M's big day is less fraught *g*.

Oh I *know*! But he was only in 9 episodes, and it feels wrong to favour him above some that lasted the whole show... But he is *so* wonderful! *loves Doyle*

Little Miss M was chosen as Mary for the Christmas play

Congratulations! And a solo as well - what a great occasion!


I wanted to cast my youngest as Mary in this year's Christmas play (wot I am directing, because after 4 years of watching the teachers make dreck out of it, I could not stand idly by any longer) but she insisted on being the back legs of the donkey instead. Of course, now that rehearsals have started, she regrets her choice, but I keep telling her, I offered you the part of Mary, but oh no, you wanted to be the donkey's hind legs , let this be a lesson to you to listen to your mother... I swear, once I'm in the old people's home, she's going to make my life a misery...
