Some fun links...

[livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds's son wrote Halloween fic. Short and wonderful.

[livejournal.com profile] missmurchison re-wrote AYW to include the *actual* Doctor: Who's the Doctor? Need I say more? (BtVS/DW crossover. No spoilers.)

[livejournal.com profile] stormwreath made Buffy macros (and a couple of icons). The last one in particular nearly did me in! :)

[livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy made Fuffy icons (and one Spangel one). Well worth checking out! Oh yes. *g*

(I have written a bit about S8 Buffy, and a bit about Faith. But I don't want to post it, because people will just argue with me. And I don't have time for aguing. Meh. Buffy lives in Rome, that is canon. End of story!)

True, without a good reason for them to be in Scotland of all places it does just seem like a way to get out of what they've said before. Plus, think of all the poor Bummortal shippers! ;-)

But (standard disclaimer) I'm sure it will all be explained in one of the upcoming issues. The same one where they explain who The First posed as to get to Andrew in this AU, since Warren wasn't available...

Scotland of all places

Hey, as at least 5/8 parts Jock I resemble that! What's wrong with Scotland? It's not as if they'd gone to Belgium :-)

Hey, apart from the deep-fried Mars bars and the bagpipes, there's nothing wrong with Scotland. In fact, Scotland is such a nice place (beautiful country, great musicians, WHISKY) that I really can't see any reason for a bunch of Americans to settle in a castle there to fight evil.

Both Americans and evil hang out in the most unlikely places. In fact around August there may be more Americans than anything else in the country. Apart from midges. Along with morags and kelpies and fur-bearing trout, the country's just bursting with monsters. A bunch of Slayers would fit right in.

You're saying Belgium isn't? Come on. With all those beer-brewing monks, they're bound to get drunk and read from the forbidden texts occasionally... who knows what they might summon up. And you KNOW the EU headquarters are on top of a hellmouth.

Yeah, but as a Xan man once said "Bel-gium."

Hey, let's not quote him out of context! :-)

BUFFY: Why would I go to Belgium?
XANDER: I think the relevant question is why wouldn't you?

See? Xander would vote for Belgium. And Giles would appreciate that it's actually closer to London than the highlands are. Of course Dawn would reply with that Monty Python joke about "miserable fat Belgian bastards", but nobody ever listens to Dawn anyway.

Three words: Buffy/Tintin crossover.

Hmmm... Thompson and Thomson as watchers...

True but in the wider context Xander thought Belgium was the obvious place to go when you’d just had to kill the boyfriend who turned evil and tried to destroy the world. Sure Spike died (chiz) but it was what he would have wanted, a death to make a girl smile. Happy heroes get the hell out of the Belgium - wasn’t the whole point of TinTin anywhere but there? Whereas Buffy in Balmoral, Buffy in Banoffie? Doesn’t just alliterate it scans.

Scotland is a sheep ridden desert of a country remarkable only for being "colonised by wankers" but it's empty enough to throw up mystical castles like Sunnydale grew a docks, an airport, an Ivy league style university and the Hoover dam without the locals asking awkward questions about planning permission.

"Buffy's a Valley girl" sounds a little limiting (it's pracically American for Essex girl). I thought the whole point of Chosen was that she could choose anything. Be anything. Look beyond shopping and boys. Follow a career. Save the cheerleaders, save the world.
