You know what I need? A Brass Eye icon. If you're not familiar with this outstanding series of mock-u-mentaries, go here and read about their 2001 paedophilia special. They didn't just see groups like WFI coming, they mocked them mercilessly. Short Youtube clips here and here. Re. icons we could do with something that uses this utterly brilliant line:

vichan is trying to find out how many of us LJers are in fandom. Please go to fandom_counts and join. That's all you have to do. (Also it's fun to check up every 10 minutes or so and see the number go up by a good few hundered. So spread the word!)

Finally, you might want to back up your LJs with LJ book (presuming it hasn't crashed with the increased traffic).


I love LJ. I really, seriously hope that they clear up this mess. And I think I'll write to Six Apart. (I'm not leaving. But I'd like an explanation.)

Yes, so do I, because I've just renewed my paid account so I don't want to go anywhere else! Having said that I am seriously disturbed that an amateur vigilante group can merely threaten LJ and they cave. Censorship by threat is not a good precedent to set.

My concern exactly! What if someone said that having 'islam' in your interests meant that you were a terrorist? I'm going to bed now, and I'm hoping and praying that when I come back tomorrow there'll be some sort of explanation forthcoming.

Looking at the most popular interests on LJ one can see that fan fiction is listed in over 80,000+ journals. Others like "anime" and "harry potter" and so on number in the hundreds of thousands, so there have to be quite a lot, even if it's a fraction of LJ accounts.

Thanks for the link to fandom_counts, I hadn't seen that yet.
