Me meme.
Decided to play the meme game with
kittyzams and since I've been fiddling with the answers all day I thought I might as well post it, since I am sleepy and lazy today and I'm not going to get anything else done. (And I'll have to get things done this week - my parents are coming next week and staying for a fortnight - when will I write? *wails*) (I've written around 11000 words so far - which translated means 5 chapters of wildly varying quality - and I've just got past the beginning more or less. I'll still be writing this by Christmas, just wait and see!)
Aaaanyway, this was the meme, and I'm going to be a BAD LJ friend and not play it properly since I don't have the time to look through interests and stuff (I'd love to, but...)! So feel free to just ignore this post.
Comment and I will give you 3 interests on your list, and 3 icons, for you to explain.
kittyzams gave me these:
black books: Oh Black Books! As many on my flist can testify Black Books is one of the best, funniest and most brilliant sitcoms ever! There are only three seasons, so really you can probably afford to buy it. (*hint*!) It centers around Bernard Black, owner of ‘Black Books’, who is Irish, grumpy, sullen, rude and drinks and smokes far too much. He also hates customers (and the world in general), which is a bit of a problem what with running a bookshop. His only friends (using the term loosely of course) are Manny (who ends up working for him) and Fran who has the shop next door. This stuff is comedy gold!
qi: This is where the whole lower case thing doesn’t work very well, since this should be ‘QI’. QI stands for ‘Quite Interesting’ and is the name of a wonderful quiz show hosted by Stephen Fry where the guests get marked for how interesting their answer is - and they get points taken away for making the obvious answer. It is very, very funny and smart. Oh and the buzzers always make really odd sounds! I *love* this show. :) Must mention Alan Davies who a regular. He is adorable and invariably ends up with minus 50 points! *pets him* YouTube clip here British Empire, Ballet & Biscuits 1/3 - you can find 2/3 and 3/3 next to it.
thunderpants: I so hoped you’d choose this! ‘Thunderpants’ is a fabulous, fabulous movie that you should go out and rent asap. As a matter of fact
lillianmorgan and I watched it (instead of Buffy!!!) when she came to visit, since Darcy and I felt that it was not right that she had been deprived of it. It’s not easy to describe, because very simply it is a story about a boy who farts - which sounds *way* silly, but it is a beautiful, funny, touching and moving film, with a fabulous hero (Patrick Smash - one of the best names *ever*) and a great story. Watch it - you’ll be smiling for days! :)

This lovely icon was made by
buttersideup after I posted this essay ’Apocalypses on BtVS’ or ‘Why Buffy Smiled’. There are people who think the smile is disrespectful. I love it - hence the icon. :)

And here is Bernard Black himself in all his inebriated, semi-conscious glory (the words have to be spoken in a very drunk Irish accent btw). I love Bernard and this icon beautifully illustrates why. It is also handy for showing general confusion and a lack of direction. (Made by
iconzicons.)

Ah The Ev0l Spuffy... this icon was made by
frimfram after there was a thing involving an article accusing Spike/Buffy of ruining TV *forever* (does anyone remember that or have a link?) - everything that has been wrong with TV since these two hooked up is their fault OMG! I am very proud that my ship broke TV! (And everything else of course!) *g*
