Dune trailer

Just for me, I want to be able to find it again. I've just had it sitting in a tab, and I am trying to tidy up.

The thing is, I know Dune itself back to front, I have read it countless times. But Dune Messiah? I have read it once, years ago, and recently began a re-read, but stalled.

I am now tempted to just leave it and go in relatively blind.

Watching Dune 1 and 2, I was constantly filling in blanks and noting everywhere that characters or events had been altered. It might be nice to just *experience* the story...

And goodness, the chanting is hypnotic. I have rarely seen such a captivating trailer.

Thanks for sharing the movie trailer. That's a great trailer. Now I want to see it. The writer isn't going past Dune Messiah (which is the end of Paul Atreids arc, I think?) Wise move.

Don't feel bad about not getting through Dune Messiah, very few people can get through Dune Messiah. I couldn't. I fell in love with Dune as a teenager - read it multiple times - saw the David Lynch film when it first came out (this was in the 1980s, and at the time it was great - now not so much). Then bought Dune Messiah, Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune - and I couldn't get through Dune Messiah. Tried Children of Dune - nope. And forget about God Emperor of Dune. I read a synopsis of the later books and it gave me a headache. Talk about convoluted political religious violent horrific soap opera?

My dad asked me what I thought of Dune Messiah and I personally liked it - he said that a lot of people didn't, as it wasn't action-packed like Dune. It didn't feel that different from other series (thinking the Ender's series, or Madeline L'Engel) in that some books have a lot of exposition and others have front and center action.

The Dune movies are some of the most beautiful cinema and use of sound I have ever seen, omg <3
