Misc stuff.

If you're overwhelmed by the news this morning, please watch this:

This one's silly, but we need a bit of silliness:

And a couple of articles that I want to be able to find again:

BBC: John Simpson: 'I've reported on 40 wars but I've never seen a year like 2025'

The Guardian: 'Of course he abused pupils’: ex-Dulwich teacher speaks out about Farage racism claims
kerk_hiraeth: Me and Unidoggy Edinburgh Pride 2015 (Default)

Those civilian casualty numbers are all gross under-estimations :-(

World war?

If you go by WWII, that started with the pre-amble of the Balkan wars that ended little over a year before the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, with first half ending somewhere in the middle of the 1920s in some pars of Europe with the second half starting with the Japanese invading Manchuria in 1930, with extra time on that carrying on until the fall of Saigon in the spring of 1975.

Then there was between a decade and a decade and a half of rest before the rematches began with the ... oh hey! The Balkans again; go figure.

I respect John Simpson immensely but he's tragically wrong; this is the second time in my lifetime it's been this bad; my parents only missed it being third because the first half ended just before they were born.

The only thing that's new is that this time there are at least three world leaders with nuclear arsenals (and I'm not even including the North Koreans) at their disposal who are actually crazy enough to use them and nobody seeming able to even try and stop them.

And people have been saying this about Farage ever since he first appeared in the media; I'm done expecting people to listen. I've been calling them fascists way before he took over UKIP, back when people thought they were a bunch of middle-class OAP's obsessed with weights and measures.

I wish I could stop caring; then at least I might have some peace :-(
