I congratulated one of my cousins last night- since he lives up in NYC. The results last night even had me feeling a smidge of hope.

My state's (TX) governor has most recently been trying to act tough and saying he's going to be putting a 100% tariff on any New Yorkers who move to Texas. Which makes zero sense on at least a couple of levels.

I just read this; I was so happy when Mamdani won - I was fairly sure he would, but I wondered if it would be a plurality rather than a majority. I was ecstatic when the final edged up to 50.4 percent.

It was SO SURPRISING. Hence mentioning it. And it's sad that it should be surprising, but here we are.

I meant to tell you that I watched the second video you shared; that man is seriously intelligently funny. I don't watch Saturday Night Live (never have, really; not out of hatred, just disinterest), so I didn't know he was a regular there.

Josh Johnson is truly amazing. He has WEEKLY sets on current events. (Tbh he's one of my main sources of [American] news.) Just a really smart and insightful person.

Just subscribe to his youtube channel! And go back & watch/listen to his old stuff. He's so good. I think the only comparable comedian in terms of comedy/thoughtful observations is Trevor Noah.
