Now is a really good time to be able to push back on that. Feel free to ask why a woman who has denied the Holocaust has a more important voice than several hundred thousand trans people and our loved ones, and also to ask if Labour has any plans for addressing the deficiencies in LGBTQ rights in the UK reported in the UN Special Rapporteur’s dossier on this shithole nation :)

Der Starmer and KKK Rowling chatting about whether I have the right to exist does make me feel all warm and gooey inside...

Knowing that many of my 'friends' will likely be voting for him makes me feel so much better :-(

Alas, the situation isn't much better than in America, although at least here we can vote tactically to get the Tories out, so maybe they can vote Green or whatever else can boot out their local public school relic. :(

That article is very interesting - I must admit that I've not been reading much about JKR as I'm not interested in her views in the slightest. Interestingly I have the Hogwarts Legacy game and there's a trans person in it (a witch who was born a wizard who shares her backstory with the player and is accepted as female by all village) - I wonder what JKR feels about that now.

If you go to the Vox article and scroll down to March you can read the whole thing. Sorry, March 2024. There might be other years when she also said something in March, but this one's recent.

I've read the thread. Her tweet was calling out the fact that this person said "trans people were the first targets of the Nazis", which is categorically false, as anyone who has ever skimmed a book on Nazi Germany knows (the first victims of the regime were socialists and other political opponents). Trans people were not seen as distinct from gay people, they were targeted for their homosexuality first and foremost. Nor is she denying that the Institute was burned down, just that it was because of its focus on "trans healthcare" when it was targeted because it was focused on homosexuality. So I don't see any Holocaust denial happening here.

People who know more than me have said that it would fall under holocaust denial under German law. It's a borderline thing, but it's yet another step to the right. And (unless there's a miracle) she'll keep going in that direction. :(
