Is he singing with the kids rather than just showcasing himself? I am no expert in singing but I've seen a lot of featured performers sing over choirs rather than with them. Lovely performance by everyone.

Oh very much with. He's always very considerate when performing with others (it would so easy to overshadow everyone else), and it's a lovely trait. He's a very humble man, which is one of the reasons he is so loved by his fans.

Also Kazakh culture is very respectful of children. For example their talent shows don't mix adults and children - children will have their own competitions and should not compete against adults. This is hardwired in.

Re. the performance, then he's a guest performer and it's unlikely that he will have had much of a say in how any of it was staged/arranged.

Yeah, people come for the voice but stay for the person. Speaking of children, then he created a singing competition for children ('Baqytty Bala' which means 'Happy Child'). A very quick look around made me stumble across this article (“Before becoming an intergalactic star, first become a good person” – these words concluded his master class for Baqytty Bala finalists honored figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, teacher of Dimash Qudaibergen Marat Aitimov.) <3

And since you said I was good to ramble, I'm also reminded of when he was in a talent show in America some years back (hoping it might provide a break-through for the American market), but about 2/3 of the way through they revealed that they would be merging the show with a children's competition that was running alongside (unbeknownst to Dimash) and he bowed out rather than compete against children. Foregoing the prize money/exposure etc. (It was... highly likely that he would have won.)
