Timely movie

Dune 2 is out (need to go see it), so here - from the Art of Hans Zimmer show, 11/10/2023 - is Diana Ankudinova singing the main theme. Rarely has there been such a perfect match of material and voice. It's utterly otherworldly.

Regarding the movie, we saw it on Saturday, and we were both blown away. When a movie of this size makes you ache for a side character, as it did me, I can say that it's pretty remarkable. As for the white 'messiah' problem, I think you'll be interested in what Paul tells the Fremen early on (you'll know to what I refer when you hear it.) In many ways, Villeneuve has updated Herbert's anti-messianic message in a really neat fashion.

We re-watched the first movie over the weekend, and it was a weird exercise because I dragged Darcy with me to see it in the cinema when it first came out, but he doesn't know the story otherwise. He thinks it's slow and mostly boring and he is not really invested in any of the characters (although he likes Duncan).

I'm constantly comparing every.single.scene with the relevant part of the book and lamenting (although understanding) why everything is so cut down, running through the plot at dizzying speeds. *g*
