It definitely hits different now after the phone hacking trials, after Carole Cadwalladr, after Hacked Off. Update your references, Rusty. We need another journalist on the TARDIS.
I'm sure there will be Big Finish stories sooner or later. *shrug* You're talking to someone who would much rather have had Ncuti start straight away or, if that wasn't possible due to prior commitments, I would have loved to see Jo Martin have her own set of episodes. As much as I love Tennant and Tate's onscreen chemistry, I would happily have foregone that to have more Jo or Ncuti.
We had three years of nothing and then got a scene like this. (I presume you've seen Wild Blue Yonder?) Not a conversation that would even begin possible without that deep bond and familiarity the Doctor and Donna share. You could probably make it work with River or Clara, but otherwise? Not a chance. And I'm sure Ruby will be lovely, but I presume (and hope) that Fifteen will not immediately dump all his trauma on her. Jo Martin Doctor is not of any particular interest - I would not say no to seeing more of her, but we are finally getting more of the actual Doctor. We are finding out how he feels about stuff after Thirteen being a sphinx, and RTD is utilising the DoctorDonna friendship to mine that for everything he's worth. It's amazing and glorious, and Fourteen is close to the perfect Doctor. (Which is presumably why he has to die.)
What is this witchcraft on my TV where the Doctor is emotionally competent and considerate and quiet? Fourteen is like... the anti-Ten.

I had literally forgotten that that happened...
But yeah, very very RTD. And fun. :D

I would keep Fourteen for YEARS. Fifteen is waiting in the wings, but my HEART. Fourteen is everything.
