(Though my son-in-law is terrified he'll win the local election he's standing in. He volunteered as a "paper candidate" in a very Tory ward, just so there could be representation. Now he's scared he might win. F, his wife, is 40 weeks + a day pregnant right now!)
My local ward is likely to be held by the Greens. There's an unofficial deal - they have this side of the railway line, the LibDems have the other. And in the Town Council there isn't anyone else! Sadly, the District Council has been "run" (= mismanaged) by the Nasty Party for years.

Also hope F is okay and that the baby arrives safely.

He lost, but by a much narrower margin than anyone expected - 200 votes. F is bored and fed up with feeling like a beached whale. No sign of the baby yet - a week late as of tomorrow. Our local Greens swept the board in my ward and the District Council was divvied up between them and the LibDems.
Jesus, the NHS is under attack!? How very like our conservatives that want to phase out Medicare and Social Security. Hope neither your conservatives nor ours win.
Jesus, the NHS is under attack!? Oh the Tories have been attacking it for YEARS. Mostly through under-funding and stealth privatisation, and it's getting critical now - hence all the strikes.
Hope neither your conservatives nor ours win. πππ
With those jokers, cruelty is the point. With ours it's honestly not so much cruelty as money. They're just indifferent to suffering.
The f**kers want to sell it off to big US corporations, as far as we can tell. They claim the present system doesn't work - to which the simple answer is that it would if it was funded properly and not undermined. As a proportion of GDP it's way cheaper than insurance-based systems, and is genuinely universal. My grandson has had the best care in some of the top hospitals in the country. In the USA he might not even have qualified for insurance.

Vote early. May the Fourth be with you indeed.
