Apparently she was on Corrie (= Coronation Street) and people say she is v good. Love the dungarees.

(If you are confused, then 'The New Rose' is only there for the Specials - at least as far as we know. Ruby will be Ncuti's new companion.)

I love Ten and Donna, too, but they had their time! It's not 2008 anymore, not matter how much certain fans (and maybe people at the BBC?) wish it were. Tate and Tennant's return has taken up so much space and focus and all I want is more info about Gatwa and Gibson!

Remind people how much they loved the show, get them watching Ten'n'Donna do the timewarp, and then hook them on 15 so they keep watching.

Apparently it's all due to the Doctor Who watch-alongs during lockdown. RTD, CT and DT were all watching along to The Runaway Bride and were chatting online, and one of them (David I think) said something about how he'd love to come back, Catherine whole-heartedly agreed and RTD was all 'Well in that case I could probably write something...' and went to the BBC wondering if maybe he would be allowed to do a little Special somewhere, and now here we are. So it's all down for fandom that we have RTD2! (This was in the latest DW Magazine, which I have not bought, but saw I reports.)

That doesn't surprise me at all. A large portion of DW fandom would like to pretend the years between 2008 and 2021 never happened.

I was one of those who was confused. I'm a little disappointed. But I'm always ready to like and/or love the next companion. (Is it only me, but does her outfit have "OG Rose I'm a working class gurl" vibes, like the Rose character's name had "My Name! Did you notice my name?" vibes? No? Just me? I'll see myself out.)

When I was Less Old, I used to disparage a bunch of younger fashions. Here in Chicago, that included low-slung pants on black and latinx guys, and completely inadequate top coats worn in winter by finance bros.

As I got older, I realized that the black/latinx fashion sense was a lot richer and deeper than I'd thought, and that if they wanted their pants to defy gravity (you know, like a Broadway show!) it weren't none of my bidness. I'm still fascinated by how guys can walk and even run with pants well below the tipping point, but that's a matter of observing fashion physics in action.

The (largely but not completely white) finance and tech bros wearing inadequately light top coats when the temps are 32 degrees and lower? That's still stupid.

In theory you can start anywhere. If you are a completist, start with S1 and the 9th Doctor. You've got a year to catch up. :)

Oh, so many, and some seasons are incomplete, e.g., "disk 1-2 of season 3," and so on. I like the one I already started, with the crack in the wall and another world beyond it. I wish I had kept on.

That's S5 and a good place to start. You can carry on from there again. Probably the most delightful season overall. ♥

Depends what you're in the mood for. S1 is fairly gritty and has a lot of social realism and political commentary with a series-long arc. S5 has more of a fairytale feel and has a lot of mythic and poetic influences, again a series-long arc (which continues into S6 and S7). S10 has self-contained stories and a small plot arc.
