Good news about Channel 4 at least but it should never have been threatened in the first place. Johnson's personal grudge, aided and abetted by his Chief Idiot, Dorries.
I find it a very bitter irony that the BBC; so slavishly a supporter of conservativism, is likely to succumb to Thatcherism fascist descendants because it's burned virtually all it's bridges with the groups (on all sides) who; even if they did not like it's mandate, and, need for state sponsorship, were nevertheless friends.
Channel 4; born of Thatcherism, and radical in a way rare on TV, even if could get a little populist in that radicalism, may; because of the independence granted it by the Tories, which the BBC; despite popular myth, never truly had, may yet survive to keep independent Journalism alive; if on life support in places.
How ironic that Thatcherism, which the current incompetent and corrupt mob, worship without understanding may save democracy from them.
We certainly cannot trust the Starmer Labour Party to save either the NHS, democracy nor our civil rights; Starmer, to me, feels; most of the time, more like an old one-nation Tory, without the charm and social conscience of a John Major; certainly he's revealed himself transphobic and (apparently now) racist.
My own party is still too conservative for me to consider joining; will be voting for Independence, but voting for them when that will not be an major issue. I am pleased by the Scottish Greens cutting ties with the English party over it's transphobia; certainly it's cowardice over the bigotry displayed by it's 'leadership' in England.
I'm fairly convinced that the world that is worth saving is the one that will exist when Human civilisation has stupid'd itself out of existence. To me it feels like the Green / Environmental movement wants to save the world for Humanity.
That will never win my support. As a general rule of thumb, I don't see us as worth saving.

ps. Are we sure Rishi Sunak / Keir Starmer aren't really Saxon in disguise; not prepared to put money on which one it would be...

Although the first step will be to get rid of the Tories and then (somehow!) to remind Labour of what they are actually supposed to stand for. Someone described Starmer as Cameron-like, and that seems fairly accurate.
That will never win my support. As a general rule of thumb, I don't see us as worth saving. I disagree. Especially that children are not worth saving and don't deserve a future. Besides which, nature will survive one way or another, it's what nature does.
ps. Are we sure Rishi Sunak / Keir Starmer aren't really Saxon in disguise; not prepared to put money on which one it would be... Saxon was smart, charming & effective, which rules out your hypothesis I'm afraid. And the show took care to point out that he wasn't the worst Prime Minister we've had...
I've never seen V for Vendetta, and it's starting to feel like tonight is the night I should finally watch it.
I've always found it so cool that the UK has multiple public broadcast networks. In the US there's only PBS as far as I'm aware, and it's not a major network in in the same way the BBC and Channel 4 are.

Word. But it's nice that at least one small piece of the madness will not be carried out.

Resulting in me not even realising it had already passed.
Fireworks on other (beforehand) nights, but not on the 5th.

Well the pets must have been happy.
We went round to my sister-in-laws on the Friday for an early bonfire, so didn't do anything on the actual day...
