I doubt I'll be watching; I really don't like his way of storytelling. There are always exceptions and I'll probably collect the episodes if I can; need to bring that up to date anyway.

If it was to turn out she is the same Rose that was with The Doctor before, that would please me beyond the telling.

Fair 'nuff, he is very much... well, him. ;) But this casting is wonderful, so credit where credit's due.

Look, it's been MONTHS AND MONTHS of people falling prostrate at the mention of his name, EVERYTHING was ~wonderful~ and ~amazing~ when he was in charge, and now he's taking over again everyone will get a unicorn and every story will be perfect.

I hope they're getting a tiny glimpse of what we're in for, because the man does nothing by halves.

Exactly. They're the older Gen-Z/younger Millennials who grew up with Doctor Who when they were little, so it sits in that comfortable 'happy childhood memories' box. It's going to be fascinating to see how they react. (Because yeah, fandom HATED him... Which he knew and couldn't care less about. *g*)

I was really excited when Ncuti was announced as Fourteen but all my goodwill has vanished because they couldn't wait to announce Tennant and Tate, and now THIS.

There are a lot of 'fundamentally English' girl names! If you wanted to keep the plant theme going: Angelica, Briony, Cicley, Daisy, Fern, Hazel, Heather, Holly, Ivy, Lily, Marigold, Poppy, Primrose, Violet. If you want something more traditional: Molly, Harriet, Elizabeth (that one has a ton of pet names that are now names in their own right), Emily, Anna/Anne, Jane, Catherine (again, many pet names that are now names in their own right). It didn't have to be Rose.

She looks lovely and is presumably very talented if she's getting parts like that at that age. I just (again) was hoping for someone older, especially now we have what looks to be a young, excitable Doctor. I can see this going a bit giggly and shippy like season 2. Probably just me getting old speaking, but I really hope they'll bring in an older companion too to balance it out!

Tbh, after the lack of any sort of chemistry during Chibnall (except for Doctor/Master, which was smashing), I might not mind all that much. And I say that as someone who doesn't really like S2.

Not that I want Doctor/Companion romance, but I'll take it if I have to.
