Brand new Dimash! :O
Literally just uploaded a couple of hours ago...
From the description/DimashNews: 'Dimash presented a song with a Kazakh folk instrument [kobyz] at the Grand opening of the International Competition of Young Performers "New Wave-2021" in Sochi, Russia. The idea to add the kobyz to the new song came to Dimash after he first heard the melody "Stranger". The decision to add a folk instrument to the new song immediately appealed to Igor Krutoy. The maestro agreed that would make “Stranger” gain new colors and become even more exciting. The performer of the kobyz part is Olzhas Kurmanbek.
I love that Dimash is always so eager to bring his culture to the forefront of what he does.
It has been such a long week [at work] and all the news is terrible. And then this appears. ♥ ♥ ♥ I am sat here in a happy and stunned daze. Ye gods his, voice. (The music, the staging, the sheer drama... but mostly - his voice!)
ETA: Amusing observation:
Brand new reactors: The pianist seems to be really into this!
Old hands: Igor!! Good to see you!
ETA: He also performed 'Your Love', it's not on his official channel yet but I found a proper copy from elsewhere (that's not a fancam!):

sort of crashing this weekend
I know that feeling, both from when I wasn't retired, and as I got to be an old person. Being dragged out sucks, so relax as much as you can, and recharge as much as you can.

(admittedly, one was a reaction video, largely because I love that reactors who first heard Dimash via S.O.S. are still reacting and loving him, multiple songs later.)
Same! I love reaction videos. Both those with people just being stunned, and those from vocal coaches (The Charismatic Voice is my favourite, well her & Boostd Reviews) who analyse it all and help explain what he's actually doing. And have whole playlists stretching back years.
And it reminded me that he and Igor Krutoy have forged a really successful working relationship. I wonder what Krutoy himself thinks of it?
I know he came out of retirement to work with Dimash (and was the one to first bring him to New Wave back in 2018), he seems thrilled to have a singer that he can write literally ANYTHING for. :D Also they're good friends. Dimash talked him into getting on instagram!

Oh I am! And it's the same every year - enrolment is mid-August to mid-September and it's always exhausting (for all staff). I'm just glad I go over covid with no long term after effects, long covid would be a nightmare.

(I put them under f'lock just to be extra careful. Although Andy has put a lot of stuff on FB, I'm the Nana, not the immediate parents, and I figured I owed them a little grandparentish politeness.
Definitely a sensible idea. I flock basically anything personal. :)

I went looking for an interview I remembered. It proved impossible to find, but instead I came across this delightful little video from December last year. There's a bit of singing in the middle, but most of it is just interaction between the two of them. :) (And at 3 minutes it's not going to eat your day.)
ETA: Just realised that it's been uploaded from Instagram and subtitles added. (Good lord I love the Dears, they are SO good at making stuff available). Anyway, here is what Igor wrote on Instagram about the footage (google translate is a godsend):

I'm glad you could see the pictures. He is quite the infant; at birth he was 9 pounds, and at 3 weeks, he was 11 pounds. I don't know if that growth level will continue; if so, he'll be a professional basketball forward by the time he's in first grade. And I'm glad you got the chance to hear Andy croon to him. I've always loved my son's voice, and now I think Harlan will grow up loving his dad's voice.

It's SUCH a lovely moment. (Like dreamshark I went and watched it on youtube.) And he has a lovely, comforting voice, if that makes sense.
