Update from the house of Plague (Day 111 Year 2)

In case the ridiculously lengthy posts haven't given it away - yes I am much improved. As is everyone else in the family. Which is nice.

Under the cut several LGBTQ+ videos (VERY different, some funny, some informative):

Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles Take The Stage | 2020 Spirit Awards

Miike Snow - Genghis Khan (Official Video) [Elisi's note: All Bond movies should go like this]

Law Student Sent To Ex-Gay Therapy, Puts Counselor to Shame.

Being With A Trans Guy : Partner's Perspective

~

Oh and here's a Petition that touches on both of today's topics (I'm sure I have shared it before, but in case there's someone who hasn't signed yet):

Increase funding for NHS transgender services

ETA: OK, couldn't let this one go (in light of today's announcement):

~

And since we've done a Bond-homage music video above (although a very tongue-in-cheek one) let's have Dimash's (more straight *g*) version.

Daily Dimash: Be With Me

The song is another pop song (although with Kazakh rap in the middle), hugely catch-y, and the video is just a lot of fun.

There is also a Behind the Scenes video:

Live performance at Slavic Bazaar, July 2021:

Reaction to MV:

ETA: And another reaction, with literal jaw drop! :D

ETA2: And this one is such fun. ^_^

Drive-by poeming!

Dabit Deus Ηis Quoque Finem

Straight-backed, like soldiers marching to their grave,
We go through life. Sweating, we starve the curves away,
And bind, or pad, or tuck. We try to save
Some form of love or joy. Some even pray,
To a silent God they’d curse, but for their need.
Aye, there's the rub – we finally ask for aid.
Trans youth: with heartless grown-ups yet again we plead,
Yet on it goes; the crippling, vile charade.

And here it comes – A breaking point, or other,
Each falls to drinking, drugs, a secret knife,
Most live. But some, a sister or a brother,
Crumble and stop. Disgust and inner strife,
And outer hate, and pain, can be too much.
Faint, through our separate hells, for each has one,
We see the darkness spread, too foul to touch.

We see them drop, in dreams; and then we run.

If in some smothering dream, you too could trace
The vicious scars deforming blameless limbs,
And watch the stale despair etched on a face,
The eyes where hope decays, and sunlight dims,
If you could feel the slow betrayal of time
Of loathsome, horrid time leading to death,
Obscene as cancer,
Bitter as the crime
Of being alive and hating every breath
My friend, you would not tell with such contempt
To children crushed by pain and endless days
The old Lie: Too young to give informed consent;
It’s just a phase.

Thanks very much!

I haven't, no. I'm of the opinion that if you're good at something, you shouldn't do it for free. So when it isn't fic, I don't usually put it on Deviantart --which is my main Creative Hobby Website Thing-- on the slim chance that these may get published someday. In the future, maybe?

(I'm thinking maybe a bilingual edition? That could be a novelty, and draw the eye. Cause I write stuff in both languages; I've got like 30 poems, and they're basically half and half at this point, the ones in Greek and the ones in English...)

I have put one on Facebook in the past, cause really, very few people were gonna see it there anyway; and I'm not trying that hard in any case (shrug). Buuuut I didn't post this one, because a) I was busy in December, b) most of my friends there would not enjoy it that much because of their English level, and c) literally none of them are familiar with the works of Wilfred Owen, so.

Hmmm, what do. Maybe add a link to this post if you want? It's worked for that commentfic in the past, lol.
