Update from the house of Plague (Day 100 of Year 2)
100th post in Year 2 - I wish I could think of something clever, but I've not really been around online today to find stuff. (My computer is in the bedroom, which has obviously been occupied by The Patient.)
Speaking of The Patient, then Darcy sent his test off today so we won't get confirmation until... tomorrow I guess, but if it ain't covid he has caught a mystery illness with all the same symptoms.
I did a Lateral Flow Test, which was negative, so yay me? (For now. I need to send off for a PCR one also.)

Let me think... Do I have anything to say? We watched the Bo Burnham Special ('Inside') the other day, which was... clever, but uncomfortable. It's essentially a man documenting his mental breakdown [during lockdown] using comedy songs. I tried to find my favourite part, but it doesn't appear to be on youtube; instead I came across this video essay:
Bo Burnham and the Trap of Parasocial Self-Awareness | 'INSIDE' Movie Review (video essay)
I have only watched about 3 minutes, but the title itself is incredibly spot-on and from the comments it looks like it is worthwhile.

Daily Dimash: We Are One
Slight change of plan, figured today would be a good day for Dimash's 'covid-song'. It's a lovely ballad all about togetherness, originally posted on 20 April 2020. From the notes on youtube:
At this time of great suffering across the world, should the international community stand together or go it alone? We choose to believe in our Shared future and common destiny. To all frontline medics and those in isolation, this song is for you. We are one against Covid19,novel coronavirus. Stay together stay strong
CW: Footage of Donald Trump (it's only short, but it made me shudder. Mostly the video is 1st lockdown footage & medical and essential workers being brave. <3)
ETA: OMG there is a version with all the children from Dimash's Children's Singing Competition:
(More background on this here:Baqytty Bala.)
(Btw Dimash didn't just sing a pretty song. He does an awful lot of humanitarian work, and [from wiki]: 'During COVID-19 pandemic in Kazakhstan, Kudaibergen provided 102 needy families in Nur-Sultan and Aktobe with five tons of food.' <3 Although I don't believe he is happy that this news got out. He doesn't flaunt his charitable works, much preferring no one to know.)

Tbh my main worry is that Darcy will get long covid...

Do y'all have a pulse-ox? I would highly recommend.

He has an immune system of tissue paper... For now he's just got the requisite temperature, cough (although not dry, but definitely a cough), and - although breathing is difficult - he's not overly worried since it's due to a stuffed nose, not his chest. He's spent the best part of the past two days watching Rick & Morty, he knows how to get by when he's unwell.

We do not. I don't think. Like, I'm not even sure what that's short for.

Oooh, support goat! Come to meeee. <3

Well, if it helps ease your mind any, I think the stats on long covid are that something like 80% of sufferers are women, which is in line with statistics on autoimmune conditions, which are a result of overactive immune systems rather than under. Not saying he can't beat the odds and develop it anyway, but to me it would seem that the deck is stacked in his favor on that front.

Not the most enviable skill to have, but I suppose useful in this case. Hope he starts getting better.

Pulse oximeter. The thing they clip on your finger in a hospital. You can buy them like you would a thermometer. Measures your blood oxygen saturation so you can know if you're actually dying or just feel like you are. The chest congestion sets in like concrete, so I can't overstate how valuable I found it for my own peace of mind.
Not that I'm hoping you'll need one, mind. But.
Oooh, support goat! Come to meeee. <3

That all sounds hopeful. I think he'd go insane if he got struck down like that for a long period.

Slight improvement today! Although now I have a tiny cough... watch this space! (My lateral flow test yesterday was negative)

Ahhh yes. It's coming back to me. So far the only issues with breathing that he has is that his nose is bunged up, but thank you for the tip!
Let us all have a Milo in these trying times.

I'm not surprised. I'd say stay clear. Or watch it in tiny bits. It is genuinely watching someone having a breakdown.
