Year 2 of Lockdown, Day 91
Today you are getting a very random selection of videos! :D
Via Kerk, Vintage Lesbians (sfw, but skirting along the line towards the end):
~
If you are not familiar with Ashens, allow me to introduce you. Also, proof positive that Playmobil is German:
ETA: OMG I forgot to link to this Twitter thread, which is a treat for the ages:
We need to talk about what Playmobil thinks pianists look like.
~
'We need to talk about Dudley Dursley - Harry Potter and Fatphobia | Ok2BeFat':
~
And finally, this short and utterly delightful Dimash song:
Daily Dimash: The Meaning of Eternity (永恒的意义)
Apparently this was a children's play showing the history of China from the first Emperor to the present (I think?) and Dimash sang this opening song.
Just a tiny short slice of something fantastical & magical, like a fairytale. <3

And it's interesting to contrast with Lord of the Rings (we just re-watched the movies) where Hobbits are short and fat and this is wonderful.

In light of the road workers I can totally see the portable toilet and cabin, by the way. They 100% fit in with the classic Playmobil line!
And I can kind of see the the tramp and policeman too. When I was a kid there was a very popular children's TV series about a tramp and a policeman. Of course it was Dutch, so probably not the inspiration for the Playmobil set, but maybe they had (or have) something like it in Germany.
Oh and as a kid I would have *loved* the Cleopatra one! So you could re-enact big dramatic death scenes! I wonder if they also have Julius Caesar and Antony, now that would be great. Can you tell I would secretly still love to have ALL the Playmobil? Though I have to confess I don't really see the appeal of Luther and Kneipp :-)

You're very welcome. :) Ashens is always enjoyable, but Darcy happened across this the other day & it seemed more interesting that the usual 'Here is a bunch of stuff I picked up in the pound shop' (not that there is anything wrong with that, but Playmobil is a step above).
Playmobil was one of my favourite things to play with as a kid. I was into Wild West Playmobil. Evil Gunslinger Man would have fit right in! I did have the saloon and the stagecoach and everything. But I also had medieval knights, and of course the classic road workers that everything started with.
Lucky you, I never had any. Although I had LEGO, so it wasn't like I was deprived or anything... Mind you, I recognise those road workers! I'm sure my friends must have had Playmobil.

Don't they just? I love the attention to detail.

That's interesting, and yes it's quite possible that they had a similar thing in Germany. We just don't have the cultural context in the UK.

It certainly looks like they have Caesar... Oh there is SO MUCH Roman & Egyptian stuff. I want it now!!

I guess they make good gifts for the theologians in your life. ;)
