Year 2 of Lockdown, Day 78
Have some hopeful news!
BBC: Why electric cars will take over sooner than you think
Vox: Why Big Oil should be worried after a day of reckoning
Exxon, Shell, and Chevron are under siege in the courtroom and the boardroom.

Here is a lovely video (from 2017) I came across the other day, which fits Pride month very well:
It's been 50 Years since Homosexuality was decriminalised, and times have changed. So we sat down an openly gay 13 year Old Louis and an Openly Gay 78 year old Percy to have a chat about the differences 50 years have made on Gay Culture and Acceptance.

Daily Dimash 10: Unforgettable Day
Dimash wrote ‘Unforgettable Day’ when he was just a nineteen, and I love that he chose one of his own songs to perform on the show. He had the lyrics re-written in Mandarin so he could sing it & the audience would understand. It's probably one of my favourite tunes, plus the arrangement is beautiful.
Performance at The Singer (no subtitles):
Gloria Wu's video - lots of Behind the Scenes stuff which is delightful, including him going back to visit his school/uni & childhood memories.
Then on the 16th of September (still in 2017) Dimash performed as the headliner at the Gakku Open-Air Festival in Almaty (Kazakhstan), to a crowd of 150,000 people. (Technical info: Prior to this event, his highest recorded note was G#7 in whistle register, on par with Mariah Carey. At the Gakku Festival, he surpassed himself by hitting D8 during "Unforgettable Day". If you want to know what that sounds like... listen! :) Basically, it's off the piano.)
He also performed it at Bastau. The video won't let me embed, but you can find it here:
Dimash - Unforgettable Day, Bastau 2017
ETA: He also performed it at Miss World 2018:
Reaction videos with people who can explain stuff (these are all singers/vocal coaches who are good with technicalities)
H of the Stage:
John Henny Vocal Studio
The Charismatic Voice
Boostd Reviews
ETA: And finally, a duet with Terry (Papa) Lin from 7 July 2018. <3
No subtitles, and a lot talking after they finish singing, but there is a translation below in the comments.

OPEC, however, is not going quietly and transportation is only 30% of oil consumption, so there's still a lot more to be done. And on a different axis the growing economic loss to oil supplying countries is going to lead to more political instability in areas that are already volatile.

Isn't it just? I feel like I've heard about them my whole life, and it's always seemed 'just around the corner'. I hope they're right that we are finally getting there.
We would have gotten an electric 2 years ago when we got a new car but there is no place to charge it as we are in an apartment.
Yeah, we were talking about it when we had the family garden party thing last week - one of my sisters-in-law lives in Scotland and her husband was saying how an electric car would be no good until the distance improved - everywhere is far away. Which is similar to a lot of places in America where the distances are vast. As you say, the infrastructure needs updating massively.
However if I were a gas station owner, I wouldn't be building new ones just now.
*snort* Yeah, that's be like investing in beta-max...

Alas yes. :(

Yeah, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Let's hope we manage to get there before we destroy the planet.
