today, april 6, is the first EVER international asexuality day. as a queer ace person, i want to make a thread about asexual history and help educate people. i’m tired of acephobia. allies and non-aces, read through and rt. #IAD

Guess this is as good a time as any to say that I am probably somewhere on the ace spectrum? It like, makes no real difference to anything in my life (I am very happily married), but I guess standing up and being counted matters.

LOL, I'm just catching up on my DreamWidth friends list now, so belatedly: happy international asexuality day!

I'm doing most of my fannish hangouts now on an Umbrella Academy fandom Discord server, and somebody there brought our attention to the day and then a bunch of people (including me, woot!) identified themselves as being on the ace spectrum, and it was amazingly validating. I didn't know that it was actually the first ever such day, though (I thought I'd just been out of the loop for not hearing about it before).

PS: Thank you again for that time you told me about Todd's asexuality arc in Bojack Horseman! That remains very meaningful to me, as the first time I saw asexuality explicitly represented in media.
