I used to think it was in the Channel, but I learned the truth in the end! :D
It puts me off learning Norwegian, it sounds like learning two languages and what if you confuse them D: You could go for Swedish? And Norwegian is close enough that you should be able to muddle through either version. (Like everyone in the Faroes I grew up speaking both Faroese & Danish, and managed to get along in both Norway & Sweden by just playing it by ear.)
Ohh, which one was it in the row of houses? They all look so comfy and cozy... Oh small and green and... not easy to pin point. I'll see if I have any saved that I can send you. :) And Faroese houses are just lovely.
Small place indeed. Must have made Covid that much more isolating and frightening. :( Yes and no. On the plus side they had a government that acted swiftly and competently and it's a much smaller community so I think there was a lot of support.

Old Norse > Icelandic > Faroese > Swedish/Norwegian* > Danish
So Danish is the language that changed the most from its Viking roots, and Faroese is still pretty 'old'. :)
*it gets complicated, cause there are two Norwegian languages

ETA: Because that's always what it's like. The aunt of my teenage BFF is also in it. And so on... Small place <3
