Buffy's James Marsters, Marti Noxon, and Others Support Cast Amid Whedon Allegations
Cast and crew members from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, including James Marsters and Marti Noxon, have spoken to support the actors accusing Joss Whedon.
Actors:
Sending you my love, @allcharisma. I know the feelings of vulnerability and fear that come with speaking your truth. As I said to you yesterday, I am here for you, however you need me. 🏾 ️

While I will always be honored to have played the character of Spike, the Buffy set was not without challenges. I do not support abuse of any kind, and am heartbroken to learn of the experiences of some of the cast. I send my love and support to all involved.

For what it’s worth, I believe and stand with @allcharisma, @ray8fisher, @amber_benson and others who have the strength to come forward with their truth. A lot of this industry needs a reset..... #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter #IStandWithRayFisher

I am amazed at the bravery of those who speak out against toxicity and abuse. While I never experienced it first hand I had heard stories for YEARS from many people who did. I am sorry it took so long for the truth to finally come out. #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter

And an article (w/embedded video) of ASH:
'Buffy' star Anthony Head has say on Joss Whedon allegations
"I'm gutted, I am seriously gutted."
Writers:
I would like to validate what the women of Buffy are saying

and support them in telling their story. They deserve to be heard.
I understand where @AllCharisma, Amber, Michelle and all
the women who have spoken out are coming from.
Kater Gordon and I 1/2
"Casually cruel" is a perfect way of describing Joss. He thought being mean was funny. Making female writers cry during a notes session was especially hysterical. He actually liked to boast about the time he made one writer cry twice in one meeting. #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter https://t.co/SgPF1rgRby

And then LBGT stuff. I just happened to have gathered a small collection, so why not?
Be yourself. No matter how hard or scared you are"
- Kylie Kwong. (Coming out story)
Redefine Sodomy
This was the guilt of your sister Sodom
^ I cannot recommend this enough.
It's A Sin: HIV diagnosis at 16 was like 'a wake-up call'
Two weeks before his 17th birthday, actor Nathaniel Hall was diagnosed as HIV-positive.

Chris’s partner Roger died in 1990, leaving behind a child. Today, the now-adult son seeks details about the dad he never knew. In honor of Valentine’s Day, here’s their long-lasting love story.
Celebrating LGBT+ History Month
(Has lovely interview with RTD as well as many other good things.)
Ireland's Gay Marriage: The Story of Yes | Documentary
Ireland became the first country to legalise gay marriage through a democratic popular vote. This documentary explores it.
(With many thanks to Kerk for sending it to me.)
And finally a petition:

FUCK HIM.
I guess I'm glad I didn't know about this at the time so I got to have my show and my fandom. Fuuuuuuck.

Yup. And it looks like that's what's happening. >:)

I'm wondering what it'll be like if I try to re-watch. Obviously everyone's known that he was ~problematic~ for ages, but this is... much more. Guess he was very good at PR.

As a big reader, I know that if I limited myself to books by writers who weren't assholes or monsters I wouldn't have much to read ... at this point in life I try to know as little about creators as possible. Or ... that's not true really, but it's an aspiration. Men suck. My expectations of everyone at this point are low. Or I aspire to keep them low.
My shrink is always pointing out to me that it's amazing how emotionally open I am given what I've been through in my life. I like being emotionally open, but I also know at this point that People Suck.

We have (very very slowly - like for the past year & a half) been re-watching with various 'young people' and are currently stalled in the middle of S5 because I just can't face Joyce's death. And now... IDK. The youngest (who is the only one who has been watching the whole thing) is only 15, so we'd have to stop before S6 goes properly dark anyway. Maybe in a few years...
I doubt I'll ever go back to it.
Buffy was my first fandom, and I dived so deep that I have sort of said everything? It's just sort of THERE. To quote Doctor Who 'I have to really want to, to bring them back in front of my eyes. The rest of the time they... they sleep in my mind.'

*nods* Read black female authors only? Although wanting to read anything 'old' the dodgy associations just pile up. It comes with the territory.

Just because you're emotionally open doesn't mean you're naive, just hopeful. Which is a good thing. Far too many people just become cynical.

It's like... we all knew he was ~problematic~ because that's become clear over the years, but the sheer extent of it is horrifying. Like, does he have any redeeming qualities at all?

I try to ignore the incredible homophobic comments my relatives spouted the next dayThere's also the film The Queen of Ireland which is a biopic of Dr Panti Bliss who was one of the major contributors to the Yes Equality Campaign. Panti grew up in conservative rural Ireland and ... blossomed into an Utter Legend and queer activist and drag performer.

I remember following it. The outcome was such a wonderful thing.

Had to google, but they're in the film in the post. Will look out for the biopic.
