Yeah. And I imagine quite a few people in both genders witnessed bullying they felt helpless to do anything about...that frigging SUCKS.

It had some good points made within the show itself on HOW the concept was a bad idea all around. Rather served as a warning of sorts. But yes, there was too much personal fantasy playing across the screen for my taste. But then again, I really can't say much as I'm sure quite a few of my own fics rank as skeevy. Meh.

Not sure we can really count fic in the same category as TV shows. Although there is possibly a discussion about people using fiction to delve into their own issues, but again there's a difference being posting kinky smut on AO3 and having an actress portray your fantasies.

Entertainment.ie posted Anthony Head's interview on This Morning where he talks about not noticing anything, and I just thought immediately, abusers groom others so they have that veneer of plausible deniability — and also, Tony Head back then would have been a threat to the cover-up Whedon's abuses, if for no other reason than as a cis white guy he'd be believed over any of the female cast if he spoke out about it, or if he decided not to allow Whedon to continue then Whedon saw a threat and neutralised it with plausible deniability, so he was as my mum says, an angel in the street and a demon indoors. Outwardly respectable and cool to those that he perceives as respectable or a threat and TERRIBLE to those he deemed victims.

This. Although good on ASH, he voices that very thing - that he is not saying "I didn't see it, ergo it didn't happen."
