Lockdown Update Day 309

"Scripture tells us to envision that everyone shall sit under their own vine and fig tree and no one shall make them afraid. If we’re to live up to her own time, then victory won’t lie in the blade, but in all the bridges we’ve made. That is the promise to glade, the hill we climb if only we dare. It’s because being American is more than a pride we inherit. It’s the past we step into and how we repair it. We’ve seen a forest that would shatter our nation rather than share it. Would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy. This effort very nearly succeeded."
From 'The Hill We Climb' by Amanda Gorman. (Text here)

I think I understand the confusion; I'd seen the post earlier myself and was very confused when I clicked and got another post I had seen earlier; this time though I did not scroll down.
You need to check out Stephen Colbert's YT channel; he was smokin' last night!

re. Twitter, then I dearly wish that DW displayed the tweets properly. :(
And will have a look at Mr Colbert if I have the time. He's usually good value for money!

2020 is finally over.
And we may survive 2021.
PS: You are reminding me of shipperx, who went from posting to just copying tweets on DW ...until she finally disappeared from DW completely to Twitter. I missed her when she disappeared to twitter - even though I follow her there. I'll miss you - if you go to twitter.
ETA: I just fell down the Twitter rabbit hole of watching in hilarious detail - Qanon unravel, along with various other right-wing cult groups. They are unraveling! Halleugha! Thank you, God. (Those damn idiots were giving me nightmares and anxiety.)
no subject
And don't worry about me disappearing. Twitter is a resource, nothing else. I merely lurk - the very idea of being active, 'socially', on another platform is exhausting just to think about. :)
But - Twitter rabbit holes are very entertaining, and most days about the right level for my brain to absorb.

I'm basically doing the same thing on Twitter - lurking. I can only handle DW and FB, at the moment. Also Twitter makes me nervous - to post on - the media is "heavily" camped out on it. There are a lot of journalists, journalism students, and journalism profs on Twitter. Also quite a few intelligence agents, hackers, and social media marketing experts. (How do I know? The Qanon screenshots they were posting - these guys infiltrated Qanon and other far right rings. That's not easy to do, and time consuming.)
Agreed on the Twitter rabbit holes. Reminds me of the good old days, when voy and lj rabbit holes were entertaining. (But only if you aren't a participant.)
The Qanon thread reminded me a little of something an old lj poster warned people of back in 2004 (I think), that you really need to be careful about what you post on social media. She'd been posting satirical posts about doing away with Bush, and someone reported her to the FBI/Homeland Security - who in turn showed up at her house, confiscated her computer and interrogated her. She warned people not to do that. So, when I saw the Qanon post - "this is just satire" - I laughed out loud, thinking of her warning.

<3 And I keep meaning to say how much I enjoy your photos. I have taken far far more photos this past year than ever before, although I can rarely be bothered to post them - but I like to document the way things change.

I have a facebook, but do my best to forget about it. Only keep it because it's a way to keep in touch with my Danish family. Otherwise I would happily delete it.

Oh thank you. I have no clue how many people read or look at the posts - just doing it to stay sane, frankly and keep a record of what is happening and what has changed.
2020 and 2021 are huge watershed years - they always travel in pairs.

FB and Twitter are kind of kissing cousins...in a way. I'm on instagram also - but just to post pictures. FB - I got on and stay, because of family, college/church friends, people in my immediate community, former co-workers, and former LJ/DW/fanboard friends who are there. But it's only 131 folks, and kind of restricted. Also I'm in a few locked private groups.
I remember that. Took me a bit of searching, but it was [profile] anniesj! a word to the wise. You're right, they should have listened.
Ah! You remembered! Not everyone goes that far back. It kind of drove her off social media, poor thing. The internet isn't as secure and safe as folks think. If you aren't comfortable posting it in the middle of Times Square - for heaven's sake don't post it in social media forum or on Twitter or FB.

Same here. Also now it has become a habit and I don't want to miss a day... ;)

I hear ya. There are people there who aren't really anywhere else.

I feel like it's not a coincidence that it was very sunny today in Washington DC.
The thing I love most is that after the inauguration, Biden immediately went to the Oval Office and went to work! THAT'S what you want in your leader. *nods approvingly*

It's one of the reasons I included the 'Look, this has been updated' tweets - he'd barely been the president for an hour and his team were already working away.
