The Problem with ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’

Via Lee:
Magic Wheelchair is a nonprofit organization that builds epic costumes for kiddos in wheelchairs — at no cost to families.

Via Kerk (this song is absolutely incredible):
'Story of a song is based on a notice from a slave auction. A woman was being sold, but the purchaser did not have to take her child with her that was at 'the purchaser's option'.
That's the horrifying thing about Blade Runner and Rutgar Gauer's line about, "That's what it is to be a slave." The child was just another added extra which could be discarded.
We're still living with that today.'
Rhiannon Giddens ft. Francesco Turrisi “At The Purchaser’s Option” - Late Show #PlayAtHome

And finally today's art: Harmonia Rosales, Birth of Oshun, 2017, from the series of works 'Black Imaginary to Counter Hegemony (B.I.T.C.H.)' (x)

I think it's an old article, but something else brought it up on Twitter and I disappeared down a rabbit hole. I figured the article I linked to was the most helpful of what I came across, rather than people banging their heads on desks. (And yeah, I read about 'My Brother's Name Is Jessica'. Oof. When my fic is done I shall have to get back to my novel. I keep worrying that I am writing about issues that aren't 'mine', but otoh I seem to have done a lot of research already... And considering what is getting published I'm ahead of the curve. I will still get a sensitivity reader of course, since I don't know what I don't know.)

Yup. It made choosing easy!
