Update from The House of Plague, Day 8 (quiet contemplation)

Feeling thoughtful today. It's a beautiful day - it's properly spring-like, the sun is shining, cherry trees blossoming, everything sprouting.

We are of course immensely privileged in that we have a house and a garden, that we are healthy and my job is secure. But I am with Martha right now. It feels strange that there is a catastrophe unfolding. Everything is peaceful.

It makes me think of this:

A pivotal moment in history - although not a moment really, more like an endless number of moments, every day bringing another change. What will the world look like at the end? Will we have implemented Universal Basic Income and gotten rid of billionaires? Will we use the breathing space we gave the environment to change things for good? Will the world be as devastated as after The Spanish Flu?

Just remember:

THE DOCTOR: The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. Hey. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant.
Vincent and the Doctor (S5, ep 10)

And here is something I want to add to your pile of good things, a few minutes of peace and beauty. The song is called 'Far away from other countries':

Someone on twitter said Covid-19 is the perfect Gen X apocalypse: We're all reduced to latchkey kids alone in front of the TV watching 9/11 in slow motion.

I think they meant 9/11 more as a defining life moment rather than a *childhood* memory per se, but yeah.

Thanks for posting all this Faroes content, btw.

♥ That remains one of my favourite quotes from anything.

I'm glad you are all still holding in there okay!

The weather has been lovely here too, we've been trying to go for walks. Those 30 minutes when we're just meandering through our neighborhood makes me forget everything else and it is nice to feel normal.

Love that qoute <3

And it was strange listening to the song, some parts I understood quite well, other parts not at all.

Of course the weather is gorgeous now we CAN'T GO OUT AND ENJOY IT. >(

The Guardian article was fascinating! I really really hope this shows that we don't NEED to drive everywhere, we don't NEED to go into the office every single day.

Lovely song and lovely pictures. It reminds me of Norway and the language has some familiar sounds in it. I suppose it's probably related to the Scandi languages?

What will the world look like at the end?

This is what I'm wondering too.

Thanks for your regular updates.
