Update from The House of Plague, Day 7

(x)
We are all well, spent most of yesterday in the garden. (Sidebar: Our garden will look AMAZING at the end of this. It's already gotten more attention in a few days than it usually does in weeks.)
And then we watched Local Hero last night which is still just a wonderful movie. (And nothing has ever been as young as Peter Capaldi in that film. Plus, he already ran like a penguin with its arse on fire then... ♥)

Lovely things from the Faroes:
A whole country singing together
(This is the final cut of all the recordings of people signing, from all over the islands, edited together. Just lovely. <3)
Drone videos from the Faroes
(Stunning scenery. Less stunning music, I'm guessing it's whatever was free, so I'd say mute it, or put some different music on.)

Here's something from our area:
"A line of cars included pre-k through second grade teachers that went on a 33 mile trip through town, weaving through neighborhoods over the course of a few hours. They honked, held signs, waved and rolled down windows to call hello to students on Saturday afternoon.
One parent says, “It meant the world to see the teachers show up so personally for the kids. In a week that has been filled with a lot of uncertainty and questions from our youngest kids, seeing their much loved teachers brought some familiarity and so much joy to their day. We get questions daily about when they’ll be returning to school because they miss their teachers so much. This was one very beautiful show of love and care that we will remember every single day until we can see them (and hug them!) again.”

It's lovely, isn't it? I wanted something just nice today, rather than another meme.

Still one of my favourite movies of all time.

One could pull out so many things, but it's the tiny details that elevate it: The motor bike that randomly zooms past (every small community has one), the baby in the pushchair that's just... there, the Only Punk in the Village. <3

Picking Apples (She's Swedish not Danish or Faroese but I get the same vibe)
Stunning scenery. Less stunning music, I'm guessing it's whatever was free, so I'd say mute it, or put some different music on.
Or just play the first video and then mute the sound on the drone one to get the full Faroes experience! :D

Very distinctive! And you can tell it's from Sweden (apart from the spoken Swedish at the end) because of the farm houses - the red with white trim is The Swedish Look. :)
Or just play the first video and then mute the sound on the drone one to get the full Faroes experience! :D
Oooh, good thinking! Also A+ icon.

I did not know that. I wonder if that's where the Americans get their barn tradition from?
A+ icon.
Oswin, the self-isolation QUEEN. XD

I was just thinking that too! And I guess it must be. :)

All hail!

I think everyone’s houses will be de-cluttered too. It’s actually quite good to be forced to do all those jobs you keep putting off ....

Ooh, free classes - thanks!

Good choice. It's basically perfect.
What is that song being sung?
The song is 'Fagra blóma' (Fair flower) - I have a translation if you like? (Here it is performed at a festival, again with everyone singing along. People love music & singing in the Faroes)
Ooh, free classes - thanks!
You are welcome!
