Update from The House of Plague, Day 4

- Darcy is all better, but is now at a loss because he's used to having the house to himself during the day, and can't work with PEOPLE everywhere. (Hence working in the garden a lot! Which, to be fair, is needed. He also has a wood workshop in one of the sheds, so he is mostly reverting to the British Man In His Shed template. *g*)
- Miss M (Foundation course in art, 'the 21 y.o') is mostly knitting, and contemplating land art (we have a nature reserve out the back, so there's plenty of space for her). She is still short of breath with some chest pains (it's easy to see why it's dangerous for people with underlying conditions/chest problems), but she's generally fit & healthy and not overly bothered.
- Impish Girl (1st year of Acting degree, 'the 18 y.o') has online/video lectures from her uni, although being a drama student there are a lot of things they quite simply can't do. It's not really possible to do combat training on your own in a small bedroom.
- The Cherub (Year 9, 'the 14 y.o') has had plenty of stuff uploaded online, and is trying to get herself organised & do the set work. She complained yesterday that she feels 'very productive' - when at school, obviously they just do schoolwork, but since she is now at home it all feels like homework, and she has to self-motivate, and thus finds it weird to be just working. But she is doing well.
- I'm just working from home (in as much as I can), trying to keep to my work hours and reading all the updates.
Overall we are trying to organise everyone, as the children (by nature) would stay in bed until midday if they could, so we are all doing our best to get up and being productive.

And good things:
The whole of the EU has started a major ventilator drive and will relocate resources to each member state as their situation peaks. They have generously decided to count the UK as a member state for this project despite our 'do-nothing' policy. pic.twitter.com/bEMIJeXf3x

Mind you, the school shut us down (they're closing down the campus, so that the attached hospital can use all the now-vacant dorms as isolation wards, I'm surmising). Heaven forbid we do the sensible thing and decide to close on our own. But a result is a result.

I have miiiiiiissed you! <3 <3 <3
And my work will stay open, for now at least. But working from home [whilst I am quarantined] is perfectly fine. If weird.

I get this. Mike actually does work from home often but he also tends to go out every day. And as of tomorrow our state is on lock down. So he had to bring all his materials home from the office and we also need to clean but there is now stuff everywhere...
Thanks for the link to the CO2 article!

Good luck to you! Thankfully my work is pretty much all doable on-line (as are my resources) - which is nice, since I didn't plan to work from home.

You're welcome. We all need positive things. <3

And everything people started talking about 'Oh noes, imagine 14 days in isolation' I'd be... rather hopeful. (Of course it's All Of Us in the house, which isn't quite the same.)

And if worst comes to the worst we can all retreat to different rooms with our own screens. *g*
Hope you're doing OK as well.

I do feel for Darcy. I know what it's like to be used to having the house to yourself and then suddenly find you don't. It's disconcerting but you do get used to it and I wouldn't want it any other way now.

Yeah, it's mostly just not being able to nip to the shop and pick something up that's really annoying. (The wider issues of zomg what about their courses - which the two eldest are unhappy about missing out on - is another thing. But at least we're all pretty healthy.)

Well you didn't have FOUR extra. ;) Am happy that you have adjusted though. <3

Oh she's fine, really. If it wasn't for the whole ~pandemic~ issue she might just have thought she felt 'a bit off'. It's been nothing like as bad as the sinus infection she had a while back. So that's good. :)
Being on top of each other must be a bit stifling when he isn't used to it; he will just have to learn how to cope!
Indeed. And the garden might be beautiful by the end of this! ;)

(And I am very much an introvert, so am quite happy being able to close the door saying 'I am ~working~' and not letting anyone disturb me.)

Homeworking is... a lot about self-discipline. Here's to seeing how do get on!
