Greetings from the House of Plague

Hiiii. So, guess whose husband woke up feeling achy, warm and Not Great, and whose
You only get one guess.
However I've managed to log onto my work email, so can at least tell the other people in the office all the things I need them to do. Wahey, 14 days of self-isolation here we come! The 14 year old is already bored. (I can write so much fic! And I might finish my novel???)
Oh and middle child is coming home from university today. Full house! :D
On a more serious note, mostly worried we've infected the in-laws, who are in their 70s. (They are generally healthy, but both have had cancer.)
ANYWAY. Here's to living in interesting times!

(Am 100% not surprised the husband is ill, he tends to get unwell just from HEARING of people being sick.)

Check in with the in-laws, and make sure they know you're coming down with something. They might be fine?

And we called in-laws first thing. They brought us milk! (By dropping it on the door step...)

Good luck. Hope it's just a cold and you can enjoy your two weeks off <3
Do you have Miss S with you now, or is she still in the states? I hate to say this, but somehow your government's response is making my government's response look good, and my government's response is frankly terrifying in its incompetence.
I myself am off sick as well. I'm, like, 90% sure it's just some bad allergies that have progressed into postnasal drip and sinus headache territory or possibly allergies with a cold on top, but it's not the time to take that gamble, so here I am, on my couch. Work stubbornly refuses to close, though the city closed all gyms, movie theaters, etc. yesterday and restaurants can only do take out and delivery.
(aside: I went browsing for an icon and lol'd at this one)

(Love the icon. Spent ages yesterday finding this one.)

Here there will probably be much TV bingeing. :)

My three-year-old niece was diagnosed yesterday.
*toasts to interesting times*

And I hope your niece recovers swiftly. Interesting times indeed... At least it doesn't target children.

Wishing your household an uncomplicated and speedy recovery, and hoping that you all are able to support and entertain each other rather than driving each other totally nuts!
(And hey, with respect to any extra writing time you may find in all this—I hope your muse whispers lovingly in your ear the whole time!)

Internet hugs are the best. <3

We should be good. If nothing else, we can all sit down and stare at individual screens. ;)

She LITERALLY hasn't shut up for months now. My current WIP has been eating my brain at all hours, to the point of having to make notes when half-asleep.

Yay! Then I have succeeded! :D
Hopefully all will be well soon in the household and everyone will find it a productive time in the best ways.
Well I have just managed to log on remotely, so I shall be working from home... (in as much as I can.)
University-child is currently having an on-line video lesson. The 14 y.o. will have work uploaded remotely. The eldest (who is doing a Foundation course in Art) has plenty to get on with, and is currently knitting. Husband is feeling much better and is baking. So, we are all rather productive. :)

I work in a healthcare department and some of my clinical colleagues have just gone "off to war" on the NHS front line, while still being paid in their positions, very decent of the department to do that, though a stark reminder that this just got very real.
I've been over-washing my hands and not touching doorhandles as usual for my OCD self, but I'm still surprised I haven't caught it, considering my sharing a building with some clinical staff, people who teach medical students and also students, and mixing in town with university students from all over Asia and beyond, plus also all the well off people who go skiing in Italy... (last registered count days ago, 7 university students confirmed with the plague... considering that one research team has discovered people who are asymptomatic spread the virus more than those with symptoms, I'm sure there's many times that number.... O_o
I'm worried for my parents - their respiratory health is not good, and Mum has COPD. :o/
Must say I couldn't help admiring your gif at the top of the page. :)

Thank you. <3 And yeah, so far it seems fairly mild (we're all young - or youngish - and pretty healthy).
On behalf of the general population - thank you for your service! For us it's fairly simple, we just have to stay put, and we're lucky that we have a lot of family who can drop off shopping should we need anything.
And good luck to you! Sounds like you're in a very high risk environment! D: I shall cross fingers and toes for you.

:( All the best to her! My in-laws seem fine so far, so we are cautiously optimistic. Although they have A LOT of family/grandkids, so there will definitely have been exposure.

Found it on Tumblr. Meant to link to the post, but forgot. :)
Anyway - Night night!

Personally I'm quite keen to get back to boring times asap :)

And yeah, touch wood re. the in-laws. Who very kindly brought us milk this morning. At a safe distance!
The 14 year old has tidied her room and is now baking. And I'm sure her school will be sending her homework. Her whole year will be off from tomorrow, due to staff shortages...
Also, my house is very tidy. Which is nice.

I hope your husband and child feel better, that it's not coronavirus, and if it is, that it's mild and produces antibodies that keep them safe from now on.

And everyone seems to be doing OK for now. ('Child' was misleading, she's 21!) Having a Chinese take away. :)

Persuade the 14 year old to take up knitting - lots of charities (like Knit for Peace) really appreciate blanket squares, woolly hats and so on, so it is a useful way to spend lock-down time! :)
no subject
And no no no! She has expressed an interest in learning to knit in the past, and we barely survived it. D:
Mind you, the eldest is a keen knitter, and has just cracked crocheting, so there is plenty of knitting going on in the house...

I hope your husband and the eldest soon recover.

Tonight we're getting a Chinese take away and the 14 year old is making biscuits. :)
