DW S12.07. Can You Hear Me?
So, my brain isn't really properly engaged, but thankfully
promethia_tenk's is still working, so I'll just quote her:
I've had this theory that I'm starting to feel is actually happening that Thirteen's era is gonna work a bit like Five's in that slow-burn, introspective character way: crowded TARDIS, Doctor feels very cut off and blank and tepid, lots of weird narrative holes, somewhat detached perspective, and then very, very gradually you realize everything is far deeper than you'd thought. Well, that's my hope anyway. I've been re-watching season eleven and already feeling like there's depths there I'd not seen before but, like, I still can't put my finger on what they're doing, exactly?
So, elisi's like 'well, I hope you're right, but it needs more cerebral stuff.'
BOOM. =D With name-checks of the Eternals and the Guardians and everything.
~
This episode sits at, like, the intersection of Enlightenment, Snake Dance, Vincent and the Doctor, and Listen and I am here for it. And it's hard to describe, but I do feel like the tone leans towards the former two even if the content is closer to the latter.
In short, I am very much here for cerebral Five-type stuff. Here's to hoping!
