Lovely tribute video! Really gives a great sense of the show, how the atmosphere and verbal brilliance transcends the sometimes-ridiculousness (those Old Who special effects, bless them...and 6's wardrobe...!)

I still need to catch up on 13; I only got as far as the first two episodes. And I love Whitaker. I wasn't grabbed for the rest of the season otherwise, but I'll try again.

Eh, S11 had... a few good moments, but was (sadly) mostly mediocre. Whitaker is fab, but the stories let her down. :( Although the historicals were good, and 'It Takes You Away' was genuinely interesting and different.

I remember how excited I was for the S11 trailer. Sadly, I'm not that excited for this one. I hope that shot of Yaz in front of the police station means that Yaz being a police officer will actually matter to the story and that she'll have something to do. It's nice that they've got Stephen Fry and Lenny Henry but again, I've never been interested in Who for the guest stars and I'm concerned that the production team are still putting so much emphasis on that.

I was never able to put my finger on what was wrong with the S11 ones, they just... didn't click.

This one's a lot better. If nothing else, then because of Thirteen in a tux and the fact that it looks like there'll be some angst. Angst is gooooooood.

That's true, maybe this time they've actually written a season-long arc instead of having just stand-alone stories? I know that S11 had Ryan and Graham dealing with their loss but that wasn't consistent, nor did it really affect Yaz or Thirteen.

As we've discussed before, Thirteen's companions were so passive during S11 that it was painful (except for the brief disagreement between Graham and the Doctor regarding Tim Shaw) so I'm hoping that those shots of distressed Yaz and Ryan in the trailer indicate some kind of tension or at least them questioning the Doctor's decisions/character, you know?

Maybe it was something to do with this? I can understand him being a bit annoyed that after being asked to write a script, they never actually used it, especially if they told him it was "too complex". Now that the production team has completely changed and he's been asked to act in it, I imagine he's happy to let bygones be bygones.

1. The Woman Who Fell to Earth (Solid good, excellent introduction to new Doctor)
2. The Ghost Monument (eh, it's a thing)
3. Rosa (Doctor Who does Rosa Parks and does not fuck it up! Yay for WOC writers! Beautiful ep that does not shy away from the issues.)
4. Arachnids In The UK (fun, but slight. Do not watch if you are scared of spiders.)
5. The Tsuranga Conundrum (fun, but slight. Although I loved the alien.)
6. Demons of the Punjab (Doctor Who does The Partition of India and does not fuck it up. Yay for POC writes! Beautiful and hard hitting.)
7. Kerblam! (BURN IT WITH FIRE! We hates it Precious. Doctor Who takes on Amazon and... comes down firmly on Amazon's side. Fuck em. I very almost stopped watching the show. Avoid.)
8. The Witchfinders (Proper fun historical.)
9. It Takes You Away (Easily the stand out ep. Genuinely different and innovative.)
10. The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos (Season finale. Eh.)
New Year's Special: Resolution (OK, I guess. Has plenty of nice moments, others liked it more than me, so just ignore me)
