I am looking forward to your thoughts! In part because I ALWAYS look forward to your thoughts, and in part because I think we, on the whole, felt pretty similarly about lots of things this season.
♥ I really want your thoughts too! Actually I'd love to know what kind of vid you feel like making - like, what would you tackle? Does anything strike you? I think (because I am trying to work out why it's not working for me) that's the thing - there is no particular hook, or issue, or relationship that has struck me. It's all just very nice.

And I am glad you asked for positive recs, because I think that is a GREAT and wonderful way to approach this whole thing, and I wish more people would do :)
Well I spent the best part of Saturday writing and realised I had 6000+ words that were mostly grumpy. So, I figured I'd ask people what made them happy, cause I don't want to be a total downer (if that's all I wanted I could just post a link to Sandifer's Eruditorum Press).

I would second Promethia's list, and specifically the screwdriver-making (and the way that was paralleled by the Dalek in the NY ep)
Real trufax parallels!!

and that scene in ep2 where she first goes in the TARDIS. That's the only ep I've seen twice, and I cried BOTH TIMES watching that scene.
How funny, I think that's my least favourite of them all. Well, finding the TARDIS at the end is beautiful, but the rest never worked for me. I have watched the first ep twice (because I started out just following my normal pattern of re-watching new Doctor Who), and I like that one a lot. A+ regeneration episode. And then It Takes You Away, which I literally re-watched as soon as it had finished. <3

I would also say that for all my reservations about this season, it has brought SO MANY of my former-DW-loving friends back to the show. People who dropped out during the Clara years, or during S6, or even way back during Ten's final angst-fest - so many of them have come back and are loving Thirteen, in all her weirdness and hopefulness, and that brings me joy.
This makes me happy. But I still want to take her apart and work out what makes her tick. Or as Promethia put it a few months ago:

'Back during season five I remember an old-timer saying that watch enough Who and inevitably your favorite character become the Doctor and your favorite Doctor becomes the Doctor. Which made enough intellectual sense to me to take note of, but man, I am feeling it this season. I get it now. Like, yes, your new friends seem lovely, but slightly in the middle of a 55-year old character arc here. Bit keen to get back.'

I also think you really nailed something very interesting about Thirteen and this season when you made that post early on about Twelve living and dying on a battlefield, and Thirteen as a result just concentrating on small-scale victories - I think that's a great lens through which to watch the series, and makes a lot of sense of things.
Yes, that is totally the only angle through which she makes sense. And I THINK they might be doing something interesting, but it's all too opaque for me to do anything with.
