The UK is doing the exact same thing the US is doing in regards to immigration? Mary Creagh appears to be the UK version of Elizabeth Warren over here.
The UK is doing the exact same thing the US is doing in regards to immigration? Not in the same numbers (and no kids in cages, and presumably they keep better tabs on everyone), but yeah. Before she became PM Theresa May was Home Secretary, and was instrumental in creating the 'Hostile Environment' that we are currently living with, where they do their utmost to send people back. :( Also see Yarl's Wood and anything to do with the Windrush generation.
Mary Creagh appears to be the UK version of Elizabeth Warren over here. Um. I wouldn't go that far. She alright, our Mary, but we quite simply don't have the equivalent kind of political landscape. Hm. Diane Abbott is probably a better fit tbh.
No, I agree. Comparing anything in the US to the UK scope wise is a bit
like comparing a pineapple to a plum. I was trying to explain our
impeachment process and electoral process to a Norweigian a few weeks
back...LOL!
Norwegian: You can't impeach someone who was elected fairly by popular vote.
Me: First, no, not elected by popular vote. Two, yes we can impeach someone
if there is proof of treason, fraud, bribery, criminal acts.
Norwegian: not popular vote?
Me: Won the electoral college. His opponent won the popular vote. Not the
same thing.
But, it is interesting both are separating kids from families after trying
to play holier than thou police force across the globe.

<i.No, I agree. Comparing anything in the US to the UK scope wise is a bit like comparing a pineapple to a plum. I guess generally right-wing parties suck, and left-wing parties argue too much to be effective, but other than that different countries operate differently.
Truth is, I think Mr. Rogers was right, we have more in common than we
think. And our similarities out weigh our differences.
But we like to focus on the differences...our egos get in the way, we want
to be important, unique, and better. When at the end of the day? None of
that is important. We're all just beautiful people who want to be loved and
cared for and to care and love. (We really need to kick our silly ego to
the curb sometimes I think.)
Theresa May bears some responsbility here, too, I believe it was under her that these detention centres became established. Glad to see someone standing up and denouncing this treatment.

(I know what you are saying, but it's not about ego now. Or at least it shouldn't be. We just have to do our utmost to save what we can.)
