There's a very long article on the new Doctor Who in Entertainment Weekly magazine (don't know if it is online or not). Along with a blurb on how the new costume came about (apparently it was the actress, Jodi Whittaker's idea, she loved how it was androgynous and fit well for physical activity, it moves with her instead of dictates movement).
It doesn't give any plot points away. And discusses how they sued someone who attempted to reveal information about the plot online -- to reveal their source.
Also explains the idea behind the three "friends" as opposed to "companions". The showrunner states that he wanted to feel that everybody who tuned in around the world has a character they can relate to. And wanted to push forward the view that Doctor Who is a big popular inclusive show.
And they state that the reason they chose to go with a woman Who was partly because "if the show hadn't done it, we would have been behind the world, and Doctor Who has got to be out front leading the world."
They also state that she's similar to Matt Smith's Doctor -- "very high energy".
The overall theme this year, according to the article is "hope".
It's a nice article, but doesn't really say anything we don't already know. The costume is definitely interesting, reminds me of the costume Jesus wears in the musical Godspell, to be honest.
Thanks for the article summary. I've gone to three different places trying to find EW and come up empty. I guess I don't know how to buy magazines anymore.
Try Barnes and Noble, weirdly they often have it. It just came out last
week -- I subscribe, that's how I got it. It's not great. There's nothing
new. The pictures you've already seen online. It's just about how they
decided on Whittaker, and how she feels about filming it, and why they
refuse to give anything away. LOL!

Re. the costume, then I know that the stripes on the top are vaguely meant to mirror the rainbow flag, and that the colour of the trousers was chosen by Jodie, when they were in a meeting and one of the walls was painted that colour. She loved it so much that she asked for trousers in the same blue. :)
Not watching the trailer because I try to avoid any kind of spoilers, but:
a) I'M SO EXCITED
b) why does she have earrings? :(
I am not anti-earrings, I love them on myself and on other humans generally, but I am slightly annoyed at the idea that the Doctor would only wear jewelry now that she's in a female form. It just speaks to level of respect for human (actually: modern Western human) gender norms that I don't think the Doctor would have.
Not anywhere close to harshing my squee, as we used to say. But what else is fandom for but to be simultaneously nitpicky and very excited?
My friend has been working on this season and they have shot a lot believe me. Yes, sometimes less is more, but the whole food/companion motif I found to be quite off putting really.
Well, their current strategy seems to be to starve the fans on content until they are ready to kick down the doors to be BBC to get to the new Doctor... Which might not be stupid. ;)

I reckon we will bet more sneak peaks before a proper trailer, but I will take anything. I do hope the proper trailer will be terrific. It will be so much fun to finally meet 13th proper <3

And quite right too. The Doctor SHOULD be silly. :)

And I presume the earrings are her own? Much like Twelve wore a ring because PC didn't want to take off his wedding ring.

Everyone wanted a proper trailer. Who knows what the BBC are thinking, although I am happy that things are going well.
