V quickly...
Watched the trailer(s) for Avengers: Infinity War. (That is the name, yes?) SO MANY CHARACTERS. Half the film must just be people meeting each other. (Which is cool and all, but unless it's five hours long how will they get all the action in too?) Ah well, I'm sure it'll be a wonderful roller-coaster ride of epic proportions.
1. I dislike the plot on principle. Bad Guy who needs to collect magical McGuffins in order to destroy the world is not interesting. There may be more to it, but it's not strikingly original. As a structure on which to hang 'LET'S BAND TOGETHER ALLLLLL THE HEROES' it of course works nicely. But that does not make it clever.
2. I can't help but hear Deadpool's voice in my head. He's just the perfect narrator to undercut all the bombastic overblown stuff.
3. In direct contrast to all this snark & skepticism, this single screenshot is basically the only thing I really want? I'm not particularly bothered about watching the film, but THIS SHOT just hit me. Tony Stark, how can you emote so much harder in a single frame than everyone else in a whole movie franchise? Truly you are the Spike of the Marvel world.

And at least one white guy that I have no idea who is.

I have not felt this dispirited about a movie I will probably still end up seeing since the Star Wars prequels.

And lol at being dispirited. Just get drunk, and make sure you're not paying to watch it. I'm sure there'll be some good bits too - I mean, Okoye has to be in it, right?

It's true if I do, I'll no longer be dispirited...

Now THAT was good.

Bad Guy who needs to collect magical McGuffins in order to destroy the world
was simply overlayed with Freema Agyeman doing epic Martha Jones eyeroll to
A gun in four parts scattered across the world? I mean, come on, did you really believe that?
and here we are. :)

Wooo! Love it! :D
and here we are. :)
LOL. Even better, because the Master's takeover a year previously was smart, instant and successful. Sure he was brought down eventually, but Doctor Who villains > comic book villains

(on the off-chance you haven't yet *g*)

I haven't seen anything about the new film, but if he's in it, I'll watch it! :-D

I can't even explain it. I just know I can't look away. I may have to watch the new film too. Like, in two years time when it's on telly. ;)

And therefore do not have a good feeling about this movie.
Because there is a single shot of Tony looking sad? The rest of the trailer was all people fighting. I think. It's a blur. The Cap'n was probably in there too, being heroic. (SO MANY CHARACTERS! /o\)

Yeah, I was referring to the Civil War thing. I didn't hate the movie, but I know a lot of people disliked it.
Re Cap in the movie, no I wasn't talking about the RDJ crying shot or the trailer. Just some things comic book readers have said in various places. Although come to think of it, I really don't understand my love for Cap. He is not remotely my usual type. He's so... *good* and earnest. OTOH, his arms are good ones to have, so.

Fair nuff. I can see why he invites a good smack & just leaving alone. ;)

I think in all these things, I will just take Deadpool's POV.

Aaah. I wondered. And I can;t help but thinking that how can they do ANYTHING with so many characters? It's fun, but none of them are well served by it. (They should do a TV series and give them all room to breathe.)

Good arms are not to be sneered at. And I think he's who Angel wishes he could be? Earnest and honest and doing his darnedest not to compromise.

You might be right about Cap/Angel*. Although it seems to come naturally for Cap, and a bunch of my attraction to Angel is how hard it is for him to be well, *good*, even though he wants it more than anything.
(*And there's a slash pairing I... excuse me. I'll be in my bunk.)

Ouch, yeah.
From the commercials though, he seems ridiculously amusing. And again, love the actor.
Imagine the scene with Spike on the roof, narrating Angel saving the damsel in distress... It's like that. But filthier. (Soooooo NSFW.) 4th wall breaking all over the place, commenting on the whole superhero genre & tropes.

I guess the Cap shows how difficult it is, even for someone with all the natural advantages?

There MUST be fic.

Well, Capt. Jack Harkness/CHEWBACCA fic exists, so stranger things and all.

And it was good.

If only they'd listen to what he actually said...
(And thank you, it really means a lot.)

“You people need Jesus” is a meme reply to things that you find off color, ie here as a joke about Buffy/Clem.
That said, (as a Heb or not) I wish you a peaceful Easter and blessings to you and yours.
Re: Miscomm
I was somewhat confused, but all now makes sense.
I thought maybe it was a nice Easter-y message, but you couldn't comment on that post.
And yes, I absolutely understand. It's... the pairing that proves that fandom will provide EVERYTHING. Whether you want it or not...
Oh and many blessings to you and yours too! ♥
Re: Miscomm
JEWS COULD NOT COMMENT ON YOUR POST. Maybe bc we are all in Israel for Passover. (Every Seder, you end by saying "Next year in Israel").

Rule ... 34 I think they call it?
Oh and many blessings to you and yours too! ♥
Thank you! And Happy Easter. I'm with you on remembering the real message. Your Guy was one of us after all. Somehow we lost all that amidst guns and insanity.
Re: Miscomm
I knew that! /is not completely useless, congratulates self

I think that's porn. As in, if you can think of it, there's porn of it. Maybe this is 34a or something.

I almost wrote that! Jesus was a Jew through and through. All his followers were Jews. We were listening to the story of the Passover at the Easter vigil. It's all interconnected. And then all the hatred and violence and (ongoing) prejudice just makes me sad.

Another thing is that Marvel trailers can be incredibly misleading, so keep that in mind. : )
no subject
Yeah, for fans that on it's own would probably be justification enough - like a really long fic. <3
Also, I believe Infinity War is going to be more or less two movies, so if there's stuff that happens in this one that doesn't get resolved, it probably will be in Part II (whatever it's called) next year.
Ahhh. Well that makes sense.

The trailer(s) were wall-to-wall characters meeting other characters/Evil Villain (TM)/epic battles/quiet moments. I couldn't tell you a thing about the plot except Bad Guy has to get these Infinity stones and they're on Earth. I presume it'll be wildly entertaining.

I was torn in Civil War. Tony and Steve both had good points and bad ways of approaching them. But the total Tony hate in some circles and the hand-waving of Steve's own bad behavior left a bad taste in my mouth (and distressed me a little). So I'm rather anxious, excited and a little nail bitey over Infinity.
