Well would you look at that...

General election 2017: Labour's draft manifesto at-a-glance

I get that some people don't like Corbyn. However this is very much like the US election - please vote strategically to STOP the right wing privatising the NHS, punishing the poor etc. People 'voting their conscience' helped Trump win...

(And yes, I am genuinely frightened at what Ms May will do to this country if she get the mandate she wants. The only positive is that Britain might become a cautionary tale helping to make the rest of the EU stronger, but I don't particularly *want* to live in a cautionary tale.)

ETA: In case you have not come across it, here is a widget to help you vote tactically:

"May you live in interesting times."

History is so much more fun when you're not living through it.

I'm as dewy-eyed Old Labour as they come but I have no optimism that Labour can salvage anything out of this election under Corbyn. Just like in the 80s/early 90s the only thing that will help them dethrone Thatcher 2.0 is a radical re-branding imo

On the upside, did you see what MAcron is doing?

His party he somehow scrabbled together overnight for the parliament has gender parity [214 men/214 women], is mostly younger people from the civil sector, has fields medal scholars, etc

So if Britain goes down the loo, there's always France

Sorry but I have always voted Labour but Corbyn doesn't care about being elected, like May he wants to drag us back decades with backwards policies. If he'd of done his job and had a positive role in the Remain campaign we mightn't be in the shite like we are now.

I live in a strong Tory seat so strategic voting is pointless. I will not vote Labour while he is in charge, I'd much rather vote Lib Dem or greens if they field a candidate.

No-one wants to be a cautionary tale! It's horrifying.

There is a widget here: https://www.tactical2017.com/ that helps you to vote strategically to get the Tories out.

I mean, kudos to the man for sticking to his principles. I just want all those people who claim they want stuff re-nationalised to put their money where their mouth is and vote for him. (Or for whoever can oust the Conservatives in their particular constituency.)

Absolutely can't blame you for that! Good for everyone else, but not you (and everyone else that lives there.)

Let's just hope, that like France, Britain has learned its lesson, both from Brexit, and the US. Especially after all the Brexit lies and subsequent regrets.

Fat lot of good that widget is, it can't make it's mind up! Alas, I am pretty sure that since the boundary changes that brought in a load of rich, commuter belt villages, I am in a safe Tory seat and it doesn't matter what I vote.

If we get a candidate. We rarely get a Green one.

I've tried two widgety things, they have both been inconclusive.

Dropping by as I noticed you're on LJ's front page at the moment. ^_^

I'd also note that the UK and US both share the archaic, and mercifully uncommon, electoral system of "first past the post", ensuring disenfranchisement of the electorate, thereby fuelling disengagement from the political process, as people (not unreasonably) feel it's a waste of time voting.

We'll see what happens in my current constituency - not very hopeful, unfortunately; it's the usual story of the town being LibDem and Labour, and for decades, completely outweighed by all the moneyed folk living in the surrounding countryside, making it a depressingly safe Con seat.
