Was reading the copy of Nazis: A Warning from History last night/this morning.

Cannot describe how terrifying it was how many times you could have replaced Trump with Hitler; even down to the psychological patterns of behaviour.

Downright Terrifying.

You did see this, right?

TRUMP: Look, nuclear should be off the table. But would there be a time when it could be used, possibly, possibly?

MATTHEWS: OK. The trouble is, when you said that, the whole world heard it. David Cameron in Britain heard it. The Japanese, where we bombed them in '45, heard it. They're hearing a guy running for president of the United States talking of maybe using nuclear weapons. Nobody wants to hear that about an American president.

TRUMP: Then why are we making them? Why do we make them?

I think the most surprising thing about Trump is that he sometimes, entirely by accident, make a good point. Out of the mouths of idiots and all that.

Maybe they can get the one that got thrown out of that rally.

There was something Trump said a few months ago where I had this moment of 'damn, that is some truth right there . . .' and now I can't remember what it was for the life of me.

Oh Trump. He inadvertently made a great point though: we shouldn't be making more nuclear missiles, we should be decommissioning.

Why does it feel like we're reliving the 30s and 40s all over again??

Also the cold war at the same time. If Vietnam gets thrown into the mix we're gonna have a greatest hits of twentieth-century American foreign policy on our hands.

Why does it feel like we're reliving the 30s and 40s all over again??
Actually, I was listening to a podcast yesterday about generational theory, which I'm not really sure I agree with as a thing, but it basically made the argument that in cyclical time we are back in the same time period as that era (they assigned seasons to successive generations, and we are now in winter). It was weirdly reassuring to listen to in the sense that nobody else seems to have a coherent explanation of what the hell is happening to the world.

Oddly enough, even if we weren't living it, the theory works. You can actually see the cycle of wars and the like played all throughout history - and it is usually 'generational' (anywhere between 26 to 33 years) for certain events. We actually know the history, we acknowledge the history, but we refuse to believe it could 'happen to us', which is just as dangerous as ignoring the whole past to begin with!

Ohhh, I see what you mean. Tis totally like we're in the Cold War, gearing up for the hell of the 30s and 40s and if we have a police action - well, we just took 50 years, put them in a blender and downed them in one dystopian shake.

Horrifying thought...

It is so terrifying that this is the imbecile some people think would make a great president.

Saw that "Terminator" tweet yesterday and re-tweeted it. Hilarious.

When "you from the past" is trying to warn the world about "you from the future"
Theory: Donald Trump has too much ego to allow anybody else the distinction of being his worst enemy, so he is his own.
