All day, I've kept thinking back to "Kill The Moon". Clara asking the people of the Earth what they want her to do, and country by country shutting off their power and going dark, effectively saying "We don't care what you have to do. Just make the scary thing go away, and don't tell us it's complicated or what the cost of it was. We weren't looking, we didn't decide this, we just appointed someone to solve it for us."

Except in real life, the Doctor doesn't turn up.

That's true, but the existence of someone like a Doctor within the world makes it possible. Right now, it feels like the lights are just going out all over the world, and the people in charge won't let anyone else take charge.

But I really need to sleep and maybe things will look up tomorrow.

From one non-American watching from the sidelines to another, I just want to say thank you for your posts throughout this election campaign. Without your posts and links, I might not have found out what a wonderful, competent, courageous, dedicated, decent human being Hillary Clinton is (I certainly wasn't learning it from the mainstream media, not even from my normally-reliable CBC).

The thing that struck me when I started getting interested in the election was the narrative surrounding her - and how it was so clearly built up of 'everyone knows'... And that kinds thing is very very hard to fight, because everyone keeps parroting falsehoods.

I'm still devastated that she lost, especially considering who she lost to. :(
