It shouldn't be a problem I hope. The Arrow producers are huge Doctor Who fans (I assume that was partly reason of the casting) and have said they would find a way to let him go if necessary. Even though he is listed as a main actor now he is not in every episode, rather bopping in and out as the main antagonist. We haven't seen much of him this season yet.

(also, we are in the fourth year already and one wonders how long the show even will go on. It might have already ended in 2018)

The show certainly has turned out differently than I thought/hoped in the beginning and everyone agrees that season 1 was the best and most consistent (it also had the most Malcolm Merlyn, go figure), but it is still fun to watch. But I admit part of the enjoyment for me is all the off-show antics by everyone involved, I love that John has found a new home and family there. Just last weekend there was a spectacular convention and they tried to do their best to cheer everyone up despite all the problems with the snow. We had fun for days with all the videos and pictures.
