Never Leave Me.
Look! New layout! :) I watched the episode in question yesterday and got all S7 Spuffy nostalgic... *sigh*
Also I'd forgotten that this was the episode when The Council got blown up. It's very well done (not the explosion, the CGI effects are awful) but the shock of it. The whole thing just swept away like that. And Quentin Travers' last words are:
"My friends, these are the times that define us. Proverbs, 24:6. "For by wise counsel, you shall make your war."
Now the fact that this was a pun never occurred to me before. And it is rather funny, because The Watchers Council has never been portrayed as very wise. But. This was Buffy's backup - the people with the knowledge and experience. They are worried, but calm - all stiff upper lip and Blitz spirit. Whatever their advice/strategy might have been, it would have been better than nothing.
And so poor Buffy is left with pretty much nothing - her only councillor being Giles, whom she has issues with already, and (although he might be a good watcher) doesn't exactly have any experience in how to lead a war...
So it's all Buffy, all by herself. (Except for Spike of course!)
Specific NLM posts:
A comparison of speeches: NLM/Touched.
NLM as the Spuffy version of Amends.
And finally, I've uploaded the perfect song for 'Never Leave Me'. Enjoy. :)
Honesty.

Really? Well it's a very good distinction between the couples. Or maybe it's belief versus love. Buffy's faith in Spike keeps him hanging on for the whole time he's being held captive by The First, whereas Buffy's pleading can't help Angel. Actually in 'Amends' I think the key question is Angel's: "Am I a thing worth saving? Am I a righteous man?" And Buffy's reply is: "What about me? I love you so much."
Spike asks the same question and Buffy says "Yes! You are worth saving. And not because of any feelings, but because I see the good in you."
*happy sigh*
It honestly doesn't bother me if Spike doesn't believe her in 'Chosen', because he already had something more valuable than love.
