And now I have met *three* LJ friends...

Yesterday (Saturday) [livejournal.com profile] kerkevik_2014 came all the way down from chilly Scotland to sunny Yorkshire to visit! (Well, he arrived Saturday morning. He set off Friday...)

And it *was* sunny - which was extra lovely, as the weather has not been particularly brilliant otherwise. (Both Friday & today have been full of rain & wind.)

We traipsed round an art gallery & did some shopping and after lunch went for a lovely walk along the canal.

In the evening we watched a nice selection of different things (Horrible Histories, Community, the first episode of Inferno* and the first episode of Orphan Black), and spent the rest of the day just talking. :)

Kerk is, I think I can safely say, a proper eccentric in all the best ways, and entertained us all. (Using this icon as an example of a delightful eccentric. Kerk too wore a hat, which earned him Impish Girl's admiration. It was a very good hat, and had a Betty Boop ribbon!)

He is safely home again now with his 3 kitties (who are all gorgeous, I have seen photographic evidence!) and here's to hoping we'll meet again. :)

I meant to post earlier, but there was a lot bus pass that needed finding... It was found in the end, but there was panic. And then there was a little person to put to bed.

Mostly then it's always lovely to meet people 'properly' and all I can say is that so far LJ has not let me down. Clearly it attracts the best people!

*He brought Inferno down for me (us) to borrow, which - as I have never seen it - was very thoughtful, and judging by the first episode it is utterly delightful. (Pertwee & Bessie on their own are worth the price of admission.)

Yay for getting to meet online friends! :D

Also- Inferno is a really a great serial with the Third Doctor. It's easily on my top 5 favorite Classic Who Stories.

I have met quite a few LJ people over the years - and they are always the best sort of people.

You should come to Writerconuk in Sheffield and meets twenty or more of us at a time!

Sheffield?

[identity profile] curiouswombat.livejournal.com 2015-06-01 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what it's like - one English Industrial city looks very like another... :P

But it would probably be best to aim for Coventry, now you mention it!

Sheffield would probably be more convenient for [livejournal.com profile] elisi, but not so full of LJ fandom and cocktails.

Now I find myself to be the one unable to say anything intelligent; this is, of course, not unusual in my case.

Elisi, and her wonderful family, was very much worth every moment of the long journeys there and back.

Red Satin Doll commented on my most recent post and referred to her as a Rock Star.

I find myself unable to argue with that assessment.

Even the journeys were, for the most part, a good time. Getting to share many a joke about where my visa and passport were travelling across the border between Lancashire and Yorkshire were a particular highlight.

The visit was a very Heppyworthy one for me too.

Liz Shaw was one of my favourite companions, even though apsrt from the odd scene, or pic, I'd not had a chance to see Caroline John play her 'live' in a full adventure until I managed to get a working copy of Inferno.

It was nice to see how much it lived up to what was one of my favourite novelisations, and my assessment of her as one of the best of all the Who companions.
