Ok, I watched the last three 11 eps and I cried. I TOTALLY CRIED OKAY. AMY. I MISS AMY. But I realize that I dislike Clara bc she wasn't Amy - with Eleven it didn't work for me bc he was Amy's. I think I LIKE her with her own Doctor. I'm gonna watch more and see. Still totally blame you.
Ok, I watched the last three 11 eps and I cried. I TOTALLY CRIED OKAY. AMY. I MISS AMY. QUITE RIGHT TOO! (Mah PONDS!)
But I realize that I dislike Clara bc she wasn't Amy - with Eleven it didn't work for me bc he was Amy's. I think I LIKE her with her own Doctor. I'm gonna watch more and see. *puts on meta hat* The best way to view Clara & Eleven is, funnily enough, through the lens of 'I was born to save the Doctor'. Not in the way of all her echoes (although that is of course a part of it), but in the sense that once he'd lost all his Ponds (after he took River to Darillium), he just... gave up. Retreated to his cloud above London and grieved and just couldn't live. (Eleven was a Pond. And he'd lost all his family.) And it took Victorian!Clara to drag him down off the cloud and force him to engage with life again. And when she died, he had her mystery to unravel, and it gave him a purpose and a reason to live. She was his Impossible Girl, and she just kept saving him. And then she saved Gallifrey. And then she got him a whole new round of regenerations. She is, quite literally, the reason Twelve even exists. So Twelve is *her* Doctor - except their relationship is far more fraught than hers & Eleven's. Twelve is sort of Eleven turned inside out - the soft bits are on the inside, the darkness is more on show. (Have you watched Deep Breath yet? If not, you'll see very clearly what I mean.) Which means that Twelve challenges her in ways Eleven never did. *takes meta hat off* I have proper meta & vid recs if you want them.

No, I haven't watched any of 12 yet, except the Xmas special which got me started on this roller coaster in the first place. My plan is to mainline the whole damn thing over the next week or so- how many seasons of 12 are there?
