It's great isn't it. I was a huge fan of the 1970s version but I'm loving this one too.

As I was but a baby in the 70s (plus in the wrong country) I never even knew the show existed until Friday before it started. I am very happy to discover it! :)

I was a huge fan of the original, and am loving this version even more. I think this version is way better at the relationships among the women -- I recall Elizabeth as being way frostier with Demelza for a longer time. I love the way Francis just looked on in awe.

I also may have cried when they found copper. Alas, the preview for next episode doesn't sound good...

I wasn't sure how to take the scene with the whore. Was he saying good-bye to her? As in, I am married now, I won't come to you anymore?

And yes, I think he was definitely saying goodbye. It wasn't anything personal (I think he rather liked her), but he's a very honest & honourable man, and wouldn't go behind his wife's back.

In case I haven't said it yet, I want to thank you for introducing me to this series! Without you, I would totally have missed it. I am always happy about friends recommending stuff, then I know it's usually good.

But at the time he did no love Demelza yet? "We go by" or what where his words? Didn't sound very enthusiastic. Unless he was being sarcastic? Or did he just suddenly fell in love at Christmas?

And re. not loving her yet, then his words were 'We get by' I think... His point was that he was not the sort who would cheat on his wife - whether he loved her or not was beside the point. Married now = no more shenanigans.

You know what is the most funny thing? Two weeks ago, I bought train tickets in the internet (for when we will be in Cardiff for the John Barrowman concert). Yesterday I got an e-mail from First Great Western with the title "Explore Poldark's enchanting Cornwall". Three weeks ago the name would have meant nothing to me. I love how things always come full circle!
